Part of me is almost routing for something just shy of the absolute worst to come to fruition; simply so as we, as a nation, will finally have the impetus to do the necessary heavy lifting to alter the Constitutional framework to mitigate this sort of thing from happening in the future.

No one is saying that the President shouldn't be able to declare an emergency. How many of those Obama emergencies did Congress oppose? I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say ZERO. The right wing spin machine usually does a better job than this.
Just so we are all on the same page the debate is about the President declaring a fake emergency in order to do something that Congress is opposed to.

As I understand it, the Dem controlled House can vote to repeal the emergency declaration. However, it is unclear whether the GOP Senate would go along with repealing the emergency declaration. Even if it did, the president can veto the legislation to repeal the declaration. In that case, Congress can in theory override the veto, but don't think they would have the super majority votes needed to do that.
So in other words, nothing.

I agree about the likelihood
I agree about the likelihood of the Dems doing "nothing" being relatively high; however, it's getting to the point where it might be necessary to keep trying - even in light of overwhelming odds - because the alternative of going along with a continuous stream highly detrimental fiction is simply no longer acceptable.
The GOP can keep doubling down; however, with each instance of doing so, they dig their hole of complicity even deeper. Perhaps this prospect will start to flush out those who aren't overtly compromised to start siding with the opposition (i.e. Dems) ... although I'm sure McConnell will do everything in his power to thwart an escalation of defections.
