I remember seeing Jesse Ed Davis and John Trudell together in Brooklyn at an old church in Brooklyn Heights sometime in the mid 1980's. I can't remember which church - but I think it was near Montague St. and they had concerts there back then and one time I also saw Lou Reed and John Cale together there - very intimate setting. John Trudell was an amazing force - and Jesse was such a great guitar player. Never have seen a night of music before or since that was like this unique pairing. Jesse died very young not long after this.
This was a great documentary. The influence Native Americans was pretty profound. I had no idea that the blues were influenced so much by chanting & drumming. It's a must see for people interested in the history of American music.
I didn't want to start another thread but I stumbled upon a documentary on Amazon Prime about David Bromberg. It's about 7 years old but i enjoyed it , enough to make me pull ot How Late'll Ya Play Till
