In the book "Monty Python Speaks", Terry Gilliam discusses his reticence to do reunions as a component of having moved on to different interests, that he is no longer the same person he was in his twenties.
What's changed for you? What's stayed the same?
I've found as I've got older, I try to give others the benefit of the doubt more and not judge them as much.
I still like music a lot, but I can handle some things (Free Jazz, Musique Concrete/Modern Composition) that I had no ear for in my twenties.

I hated brussel sprouts when I was in my 20's, absolutely love them now. What hasn't change is that I still hate cream of tuna on shoestring potatoes.

Is Terry an asshole now or before? I get confused when assholes say that they're not the person that they used to be.

I have way more empathy for people who are struggling in any way- whether mental/physical/spiritual/financial.
I used to be deathly afraid of public speaking in highschool and outgrew it in college. I've been speaking professionally for a living now for 5 years and jump at the opportunity to get up in front of a group and speak.

This question reminds me of this guy I knew who grew up in Boston and then moved to Scottsdale AZ in his early forties for a job. He said the only thing that was the same was the currency.
Growing old is not for the feint of heart.

I will never stop listening to the good ol grateful dead
we are the scourge of the country club where we play golf at on weekends, cranking the gd at our 7 am tee times. We always ask ourselves why not listen to something else, and then the jones kicks in

Better perspective on things
Better perspective on things in general, signs of aging physically but still going to shoes. always listened to many types of music but definitely less dominated by GD stuff these days. It keeps it fresh. like the 10/24/71 I heard last night by chance and I was enthralled by Phils playing on BEW. And his high harmonies!
I'd say my youth still defines a large part of me so I yam what I yam. Counting my blessings, never forgetting where I come from, trying to embrace each day.

We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.
