Been a long winter up here in Western Oregon. December and January were unseasonably mild, but February was cold, cold, cold with no signs of letting up as we head into March. I have been here almost 20 years and haven't seen it this persistently cold this late in the season with temps going below freezing night after night. Eugene just got is snowiest February day ever recorded.
February sucked here in Seattle, glad it's over. This city shuts down when it gets a good snowfall and icing. I was told the city only has 12 snow ploughs. Mind-boggling. The last few days have seen lots of sunshine, which is welcome. We haven't seen a 50 degree day for a bit. Spring Fever is already hitting though, as I saw lots of folks out in shorts, t-shirts and even flip-flops yesterday with it only in the mid-40s. They all looked a little chilly. I'm still in 3-4 layers when I go out!
Yeah, we are ready for some sunny dry days here in Lake County. Normal rainfall here is 30" per yr. We are almost at 40" already. And rain forecast most of this coming week.
It has been rainy and cold winter for the most part since November in Atlanta. We have had what feels like a total of 2-3 weeks on non rainy days. A handful of nice days to give us a bit of hope that spring is coming. I have lived here 12 years and this has been what seems like the wettest and coldest for my time here.
2018 was the 2nd wettest on record (145 years or so of record keeping). We had 71" of rain. 52" is the average yearly total. Hopefully we get some dry warm days soon.
It's been a long winter here in Ophir, Colorado. While not polar vortex cold, we've received constant cold temps and a lot of snow. Being an extreme drought, the snow is definitely welcome but would've at least liked a "run" of a few 40+ degree days in February! Last year, was quite the reverse ... felt like Florida for days on end.
Actually trapped (safely) by an avalanche at the moment ... crossed the road early this morning and county is not sending out a plow crew until risk subsides.
It just keeps going and going, with no end in sight. Looked at long range forecast and it's still in the 20's for highs in the middle of march. On average, we should've had about 30+ days of 40 degree plus weather by mid March. Yet, I can count the number of spring like days on one hand. Need to dig up my propane tank lid to see that I'm not in danger ... since also haven't had much sun & my place normally gets excellent thermal gain ... so been running way more heat.
3 degrees on the way to school this morning and 5-8 more inches of snow expected Saturday>Sunday. It's been a long, cold, and snowy winter in upstate NY / Southern Adirondack Park!
