Larry and Theresa played a intimate club in Kennett Square PA last night (The Flash), maybe 100 people in attendance (and that was a sell out). I was once again amazed at his ability to completely live in the musical moment, he gets into a zone where the music is just flowing through him and the joy is palpable. My wife calls him "Smiling Larry". The two of them provide soaring harmonies that can be both strong and tender and his touch on guitar is draw dropping in its complexity and technique. Lots of material from their two albums, a few old covers (including a "Samson & Delilah" that brought down the house), a beautiful version of "Blind Mary" from his solo instrumental album (Rooftops), a barn burning "Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning"(see Theresa below), just a fantastic night of music. Lots of stories about life with Levon and Dylan as well as many others (is there anyone he doesn't know?) and an introduction to two members of the Dixie Hummingbirds who were in the audience. These two are coming up on 30 years of marriage and their love for each other shines off the stage, watching him play as he watches her sing is to see love in it's purest form. Great musicians live their music and these two have spent a lifetime doing it, truly inspirational and everything that you go to see live music for.
A few (poor) shots.....
And a clip of "Blind Mary" from his album....

I also think that he is one
I also think that he is one of those special musicians that always bring out the best of those that he shares the stage with, a special and rare talent that few musicians seem to possess. Musical generosity at its best. I saw him play a gig with David Bromberg (who we were hoping would show last night, he lives less than ten miles from Kennett Square) a few years ago. It was by a wide mile the best set I'd seen David play in 40 years and I'm convinced that it was because Larry was on that stage with him. Same when they both played with electric Hot Tuna at the Capital about four years ago. Larry's joy is infectious and just radiates out from the stage.

He absolutely thrills all of
He absolutely thrills all of the legends he plays with and helps to bring them to new heights. I really think that his time with Dylan playing with Charlie Sexton, really gave Bob and Tony the greatest confidence on the songs they had seen or heard yet and that then came through night after night with amazing vocal deliveries through the Time Out Of Mind and Love and Theft Years.

Larry not my favorite
Larry not my favorite guitarist but I’ve always respected his musicianship and ability to play around and with others in a group of live performers. Have enjoyed Larry for the most part except when I saw him having to drag Phil’s kids along a couple times. Don’t think I could handle an entire night of Theresa’s singing but glad you enjoyed.

He added depth to any lineup
I thought he added depth to any lineup with his pedal steel, fiddle and his ability to play solid electric that allowed others to shine and at times himself.
This Other one>”lead In” highlights the magic of Larry’s sound.

The last two minutes goes from a typical TOO melter transitioning into music I could imagine was being played at an 1800’s formal ball. The weird and beautiful little space between exploration that I love from Phil, and use to make his sound so fun.

Always Enjoyed LC with the various ensembles over the years. He definitely sparkled with Bob Dylan back in 1994. I forget if he was still on board when there were co - Dylan - Phil tours 1999 early 2000's, but I forget.
As for Thom, I wish people would confine their soap - opera stuff to the 'Politics' folder, but I can't blame him for expressing his views.
However, I'm pretty sure it was him who I ran into at the "Gays for Pagan Reagan" rally over at the local Mosque the other night.
We had a peaceful argument over the last morsel of Baby Seal sashimi, and then jammed "US Blues" on Kazoo & Jews Harp.

Local,
Local,
I stand corrected, and apologize for my dumbfuck comment.
Although I did see "Never-Ending Tour" w/ Bob, Larry & Phil in the '99 to 200x era, the Hult Center shows were in May 1995. That one, and the night before at Hult Center. Now, I thought LC was the Guitarist, but someone tell me who actually was, at that time in 1995.
Apologies for my senile recollections, but they were Awesome Dylan shows. Went on the first night and then dragged my Girlfriend there for the second, insisting that the (then-current) lineup was just amazing.

I've run into quite a few
I've run into quite a few delusional "heads" in the scene that support President Schmuck and the Republican party.. While I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, it still blows my mind that these people can be so gung-ho about music and musicians that are diametrically in opposition to the views they espouse. A lot of the older musicians and heads have spent their entire lives fighting the Republican agenda. And then, there's Orange Cheeto himself. Motherf*cker would charge you $20 dollars for a balloon and then use the money to buy a ticket to scalp to another head for profit.
