So a buddy of mine just texted me and has tickets to see some Swedish heavy metal band tonight called Ghost. Never heard their music before, but do know of them because of their elaborate stage show and just how evil they are. Should be interesting.
Fun and interesting show. I was expecting obnoxious sounding thrash metal with guttural vocals, but it was very palatable straight forward rock sound with really evil lyrics and big stage show reminiscent of Alice Cooper and BOC. Very polished act that was like the Steel Panther of Scandinavian Metal. The lead singer, Cardnal Copia, wore a mask that sort of looked like Michael Myers from Halloween and was backed by an at least eight piece all-pro band ("A Group of Nameless Ghouls") wearing weird helmets (see pic above). There were three guitars, bass, two keyboardists, drummer, and a ghoul playing shakers and not a bad note all night.
They also had a freak dressed up like an anti-pope, Papa Nihil, come out and play sax:
used to see them in PB when they were called metal shop. Then metal skool. Then they started coming to Vegas regularly when I lived there 20 odd years ago. Had a spin-off band called the atomic punks too. Best bar bands ever. For real.
Glad you had a good time. I saw them at a metal festival I went to in Jacksonville, FL spring of '16. Not my favorite band there, but it was interesting and did not suck. They had a meet and greet going before the show in the vending area of the fest, I walked by and saw them sweating bullets in the FL heat. They were in full makeup.
