Saw The Who on their new Moving On tour. They play 3/4 of the show with a full orchestra. Songs are arranged a little different but I liked them all except pinball wizard, just didn't seem to flow with me but that was a minor bump.
Ringo Starr son is the drummer and he is 100% a beast on te skins. That was a real treat.
Pete on acoustic and Roger with tap shoes singing a Wont Get Fooled was fantastic. Rogers voice was actually in very fine form too.
Well worth a visit.

What bugs me is Zak is apparently playing with a click track with the orchestra. That eliminates much of the 'danger' and looseness. To have a Who drummer with perfect meter is almost laughable. (Kenny Jones and Simon Philips notwithstanding).

just an FYI Keith Moon used to have to play to a click track on certain songs too, which is why you occasionally would see him with headphones taped to his head. the fact that they are playing with an orchestra pretty much answers the question “why would zak need a click track?”
I caught there show a week or so ago at Fenway and I had a great time. I was a little bummed they didn’t play Drowned or Punk meets The Godfather as they had played it on other recent dates but I thought it was a great show.

He don't, it's more for the orchestra's benefit, to keep time thru him. Zak dont need no stinkin machine to keep time, he's already the perfect time machine. Fuckin love Zak. Best live Who since Moon days.

it’s for all of their benefit.
The implication that some drummers are too good for click tracks isn’t the point and is pretty silly.
Zak is a great drummer. Keith was a great drummer.
Keith used a click track on baba o reily and don’t get fooled again in particular because the band was playing to the iconic keyboard parts in those songs that were pre-recorded so if everyone doesn’t stay in time all hell breaks loose.
An orchestra follows a conductor. The click track keeps them all in sync. Got it? Good

That's going to happen if you want to play with an orchestra.
