Missed Opportunity Backstage Pass

Forums:

Just heard a 'missed opportunity' GD story on an otherwise mostly mainstream radio station about a guy - a huge Deadhead - who had a buddy who knew Barlow, and scored him tickets to a GD show in

Boston in 1993. He went to pick up his tickets at will call, took them out of the envelope, and put the envelope in his back pocket. When he got home hours after the show, he took the envelope out of his

pocket and realized there was still something in there - 2 backstage passes! Guess his buddy (who did not attend the show) neglected to mention those. He said he never really got over it to this day.

Ouch. That's gotta hurt.

He should know that being backstage at a GD show, especially in the '90s, was no great party.

For realz. He missed out on the Budweisers and Camels.

I once turned down back stage passes for Big Audio Dynamite because Mick Jones was hitting on my girlfriend.

I had backstage passes to Peter Gabriel at Forest Hills on the So tour because my friend who worked for Warner Records was sleeping with him. This led to lunch at his home in Bath when she and I did a bike tour in England later that Summer. Lucky for me I hung with PG and his house manager hit on me, win win

Yep.  What he missed was standing around a bunch of people he didn't know feeling awkward.  And he probably wouldn't have even seem, much less had interaction with, any of the band members (well, maybe Vince).

He did miss out on walking around the venue with the sticker on his shirt or pants though. Always a good conversation starter. "who do you know?" lol.
