propane oops

Forums:

wow its been cold here... weeks of single digit nights, and the cascades are not really built for this... anyway what i thought was a winters worth of propane ran out on me this morning....

sigh... livin and learning... the guy cannot come out to fill me until monday am.... so i am shower free, and camping by the fireside....

anyone has good fire side stories??

admin.. please move this to the no one gives a fuck folder.....

I have a medium-size tank (80 lb ?) but generally use the 20 lb. BBQ tanks. They are only 16-20 bucks. If you have a fire built then you can heat some water for your solar camping shower.

A whole 17 minutes before ya gave up?

Damn, thats cold, j....

So, there was once a large fire in nantucket...

(To be continued)

Monday?!? I would be considering an impromptu vaycay to the nearest motel.

yes i am impatient... i just feel foolish letting my 1000 gallon tank go dry on a saturday....

im going to have to bake a pizza tonight, and maybe sip on some tequila.. or wine... not sure...

>>>Monday?!? I would be considering an impromptu vaycay to the nearest motel.

yes, but im going to stay and keep my wood stove packed tight..... who needs hot showers anyway... its like practice for when the aliens come back, or whatever..

I really like the idea of " no one gives a fuck folder".... got to admit, that's pretty funny

I guess you still have electricity so that's not too bad.

Jeez, I have 2 125 gallon tanks.

brian, i use that much just having a barbeque......

it looks like this house will use up to 2500 gallons annually... yikes.

2,500 gallons? How big is your house and how cold does it get?

I've got about 1,750 sq/ft and it routinely gets below zero. The most I've used is 1,100 gals, and that was 2 years ago when we had  got after night of -25 and highs hovering around 0.

well this is learning about the house, when i first moved in the heated floors didnt work.. got that fixed, so now im just crunching new numbers as i learn .... 2500 might be exagerated, but this cold snap has been brutal, in an area which rarely sees these temps....

put on some ugg boots brah

My propane is only for stove, so small tank lasts a while. "Large" lasts months, but small ones are so convenient.

So the backup solar shower is good if electric or water is out -- just heat 4-5 gallons on gas stove. Or, if sun is out... go solar.

The radiant floors, what was wrong?

>>>>The radiant floors, what was wrong?

it was all miscalculated,  poorly designed, and the boiler was too small, and the  thermostats were wrong, many of the manifolds were installed wrong.... so much damage done by a do it yourselfer........

Monday is a national holiday, MLK Day...

are you sure you're going to be able to get a propane delivery... a lot of businesses are closed that day

already booked.
