After a rocky start of the season, The Warriors have been on a 12-game winning streak, tied for third all-time for the franchise.

other than those two losses
Other than those two losses where they basically didn't show up, it's been an entertaining start to the season. And hopefully they will continue to gel, especially on defense... they have had only a few complete games where they didn't have breakdowns defensively (and too many games where they allowed the other team to hang around).
Avoiding becoming complacent about working hard to always improve defensively (because it would be easy to just rely on their offense) is a huge key for them, IMO.
GO WARRIORS!!

Remember when most zone Warrior fans were arguing against getting Durant last year? I think it was about having less bench depth or something.
I do, because at the time I figured anyone in their right mind would flip Barnes/Bogut, Iguodala/Bogut, or Iggy/Barnes for a 7' scoring freak.

And BTW: From what I've seen of Draymond Green, he looks like Defensive Player of the Year, if he keeps doing what he's doing.
Tlach: If you're talking about that flagrant foul against Houston, that high leg looked completely unintentional to me. More like his upper body was pushed backwards and his leg came up as a result. And Harden was "lucky" to be in the right place at the right time. If you're talking about something else, I guess that I missed it.

>>> Should have let him play
>>> Should have let him play in the fourth. Why the fuck not
5 road games in the next 6 days... and the game was already basically over, but they let him go for both his personal record and extend that to 60. And that's how they've done things for the last few years... get a big lead and rest the stars in the 4th.
As for Draymond (who did ultimately cost them the championship), he has actually been a bit more tempered so far this year... not something you would notice if you're only catching his antics on sport center. But yeah, those kicks gotta stop and so does the way he protests calls (all agro n shit).
That aside, Warriors' games are a blast to watch, and that game last night showcased just how great they are when either Klay or Curry are hitting their shots (both were stone cold in their 3 losses).
Clippers (who the Cavs just beat) are up next... looking forward to seeing how they try to deal with the new look Warriors.

Tlach, I missed that one in the photo. Looks pretty bad/stupid.
Did anyone watch him shut down the Raptors' last three possessions during the final seconds of the game? First two were 1:1 blocks, each bouncing off the shooter out-or-bounds. The last was running out to the 3-point line to pressure their last shot of the game. He can defend ALL positions, 1-5.
Not to mention his excellent passing...
But, yes, the bad side of him is REALLY BAD.
PS: Regarding last night's performance, I enjoyed watching Klay's teammates on the sidelines about as much as I enjoyed watching Klay draining the variety of shots that he took.
We've already seen a fair number of individual records/numbers/streaks go down the gutter, which seems to be OK to the players and to Coach Kerr, who doesn't want to upset the "Basketball Gods" Lessons learned...
Regardless, this is such a fun team to watch.

They completely schooled
They completely schooled their hated rival and one of the top teams in the league, on their home court, again.
It's fun to see this new group of players learning to jell and figure out who they are as a team.
They're starting to play some really good defense, which is great to see, and no one player has to be the hero or focal point offensively, so they're all free & willing to spread it around.
I'm no expert, but it seems to me that they're just scratching the surface and will continue to get better & better.
I do think that they miss Bogut and his tough presence inside, this Patchouli Oil dude doesn't impress me much, but otherwise I don't think they're going to miss any of the bench guys they lost.
BTW, can someone explain what plus/minus is?
They were yammering about that on the TV tonight, and pointing out that all of the Big Four - Curry, Durant, Thompson & Green - were among the league leaders for the season, and they were very impressed with that.
Oh, and I don't think Draymond Green is the biggest punk in the league.
The Clippers alone have at least two who beat him on that one by a mile.

it's a very physical game
Re Draymond, it's a very physical game played by [way] more aggressive than average individuals... these guys are taught to push it as far as the refs will allow. Dirty shit is happening all the time in every game... if you watch a lot of Warrior games and not just sportcenter highlights, you would see the shorter Draymond getting elbowed in the head/face by the bigs, but it's rarely ever called.
Same for Curry, who gets bounced around like a rag doll when he's running without the ball. So the league (and fans) are OK with that stuff, but not Draymond's flailing feet. This is something Draymond has to learn or he's gonna lose the team another championship, but it's not something thats' SO out of the norm for these guys.
some pics (since people are in the sharing mood)...
here's Klay getting kneed in the ear in the 2015 playoffs (replay showed that the defensive player had plenty of time to pull his knee back). Houston was getting beaten, which makes it even dirtier, but player was not ejected and there was no league-wide fan uproar.

Moogly, I have been a NBA fan
Moogly, I have been a NBA fan since the early 70's and I agree that basketball can be very physical. A smaller guy being elbowed in face by a bigger guy happens often. But Green's leg flailing is unnatural and intentional, and hitting an opponent in the groin is dirty and pathetic. Plus, it's not like Green has kicked only a couple of guys. I understand that it is easy to overlook or justify when a dirty punk plays on a your favorite team.

Like I said, I believe Green
Like I said, I believe Green's actions cost the Warriors a championship and he needs to stop that shit or it's going to cost them again in the future... bearing that in mind, I'm not sure how saying dirty plays abound in the NBA is "overlooking" or "justifying" Draymond's behavior, but I sense that this is a very emotional subject for you, Tlach, so you're probably reading more into it.
And speaking of overlooking... why did you only post the pic of Draymond retaliating and not the lead-up pictures that show Lebron going out of his way to step over and drag his junk across Draymond's head? not a dirty punk move in your book, huh? (even Barkley, who hates the Warriors, said he too would have punched Lebron in the balls).
You also seemed to have overlooked the picture of that notoriously dirty hiptser Steven Adams knocking Green face first to the floor and landing on him (happened prior to Draymond kicking Adams in the balls)...
i could go on and on with examples of dirty punks, but this is a Warriors thread, so if you're only into dirty punk chat, maybe go start a thread about that?
Better yet, how about starting a thread about your favorite team (what team is that, btw? I'm sure they are, and have always been, pure as the driven snow).

Moogly, hard fouls are a reality and players have been stepping over other players for a long as I've been watching the NBA. But kicking a player in the head is not part of the game. And hitting anybody in the groin, be it a kick or a punch, is a punk move.
You said if he doesn't stop he will cost the Warriors, I say if he doesn't stop somebody is going to get seriously hurt. Be it from a kick to the head from Green, or when a member of an opposing team retaliates. This is why I said that the league needs to step in and suspend Green when he kicks someone in the head.

C'mon man, the only thing
The only thing that matters is winning championships, so their regular season record doesn't mean shit, especially considering how they lost the championship last year with the best record AND home court advantage.
And before losing Irving to the knee injury the year before, Cavs were up 2 games to 1 even without Love, so that series was also not a gimme.
So yeah, I'm concerned because the Warriors are getting beaten by teams like the Cavs that play a gritty, ugly, style, but find a way to win those close games in the end (or in overtime, as the Rockets and now the Grizz have done).
And like Dan said, in those loses, their 4th quarter play was not good, especially the offense.
I read an interesting article that said Kerr is to blame for stubbornly sticking to his relatively complex offensive scheme instead of going to a more simplistic pick and roll (using a mixture of all their stars, but primarily Curry/Durant) that would be extremely hard to defend, and would net better possessions late in those types of close games.
And I don't know that much about basketball either, but it kind of made sense to me... in those losses, the opposing defenses clamped down in the 4th causing the Warriors into too many isolation "beat the shot clock" plays, which is not their game, so it's no wonder their outside shooting suffered.
And those missed outside shots led to the other team getting easy rebounds and easier fast break points. It also meant the Warriors were put right back into the half court offense... rinse and repeat.
I like Kerr and I hope that whatever the reason for these collapses, he finds a fix and the Warriors go on to win 2 or 3 more championships, video game style.

I believe Steve's keeping that in his back pocket until the Playoffs. Not wanting to get teams to start thinking about how to defend it right now.
The 4th quarter collapses are very disconcerting when you have such a big lead. All you have to do is trade baskets. But they start throwing up rushed 3's. They all seem to stand around and stop moving without the ball. Which is the main part of Steve's offense, so you find the man with the open look. Too many turnovers. No need for the fancy behind the back pass. Keep it simple and just get the win!
Go Warriors!

They are really learning how
They are really learning how to play with each other.
Durant is showing he's so much more than a scorer. This is the only team in which he would have that luxury, where he can demonstrate all of his talents. It's amazing.
These guys are really beautiful to watch. I didn't want them to change anything this past offseason because I thought they were so good with what they had but I'm glad they know more than me because this team is extraordinary. Yeah, they have as much talent as any team in the history of any sport but they are taking all that talent and making this thing an art.
I don't watch a lot because I'm not a fan (cept for Kerr), but these guys are very special.

>>>I didn't want them to
>>>I didn't want them to change anything this past offseason<<<
I think because of impending contract & cap issues they were going to have to make most of the changes they made whether they got Durant or not.
They were going to have to pay Harrison Barnes huge money if they kept him, and while he's a really good young player who I think is raising his game in Dallas this year I think Durant is an easy upgrade, and overall they had to begin gathering the sacks of dough needed to keep Curry, and now Durant.
>>>They are really learning how to play with each other<<<
They are and it's interesting to watch. Curry is the one who's probably had to adjust the most, and maybe he was adjusting too much early on, but now they're all flowing together. As a team it seems it's their defense that has had to come together. At first they looked like they'd lost much of that end of their game, but now they're really starting to stuff people and are leading the league in many defensive stats.
I love good defense in any sport.
And now they dump the fizzy haired giant and sign a backup point guard who plays excellent defense.
Far out.
And BTW, I think every team does, or tries to do to Green what Turtle is suggesting. For the most part he just fights through it.
His image as "a punk" is not accurate, as he's highly respected among players around the league. It's his interactions with referee's that gets him into trouble.
Also, as a general outsider NBA fan it's my annual time to say that the regular season goes on waaaaaay too long. Don't we all pretty much know who's good, who isn't and who will make the playoffs?
It seems to me that every year by the time the finals come along one or both teams are gassed and dealing with significant injury issues.
Considering how long and brutal the playoffs are, 82 regular season games is ridiculous.
IMO.

Well, they lost two in a row.
Well, they lost two in a row.
Listening to a bit of talk radio this morning, lots of people panicking.
If I were a deeper fan I might be as well, but I think it's pretty silly to freak out because THEY LOST TWO GAMES IN A ROW!!!!!
The horror.
It took them a while to figure out how to play with Durant, now they'll have to figure out how to play without him. It looked to me last night like everyone was trying a little too hard. I think they'll be fine and will hold onto the #1 seed.
The interesting issue might be that they'll have just figured out how to play without Durant right when he'll be back, which will be right when the games begin mattering WAY more, and they'll have to adjust again but this time under the big pressure and urgency of the playoffs.
It is certain to be interesting.

IMO they were already going
IMO they were already going to have their hands full IF they made it to the finals and had to play Cleveland again... as we saw last year, missing just one integral piece for just one game was enough to tip the balance. Of course had Curry been 100%, they probably could have gone on to win, but neither he nor Klay had much left in the tank by that point.
Speaking of which, I'm beginning to wonder if those two are feeling a bit beat down now... both have been missing not only open shots, but lay ups (lotta turnovers too).
And if they are going to have any chance of keeping San Antonio at bay, those two are going to need to start lighting it up like they did when Durant was not on the team... time will tell if they can just switch that on or not, but either way, they probably won't get a chance to clinch early and rest anyone, so those two will have to continue to shoulder most of a load in at least the 1st round (assuming Durant is not 100% right away).
That may not be a bad thing since it's really tough to beat GS when the splash bros are going off, but even if they can turn that back on, I don't know if they'll have the stamina to do it for the next 6 weeks to two months.
And I'm usually wrong about these things, so who knows, maybe some someone else (Green?) will turn into a hero and get them through this stretch...

So now they've figured out how to play without Durant, are fine and should certainly hold onto the #1 seed.
They're flowing, passing, shooting, defending and just smoking everybody they're playing now, but I stand by my concern that when Durant comes back will things get sticky when they're forced to adjust again, especially offensively, right when the high-stakes playoffs begin?
It will be a true test of how good these guys really are. I always say it's easy to be good when everything is good; the real test is can you be good when things are tough, when things are changing, when you're forced out of your comfort zone?
It's all very interesting.

agreed about Durant possibly
agreed about Durant possibly fucking up the good 'ole Warrior flow.
I think the solution is to bring him in off the bench like they've been doing with Iguodala, but even if they do that initially to work him back into playing at full speed, I highly doubt they will continue to do that when he's feeling close to 100%, no matter how well it might be working.
Egos are a bitch (both the players' and the suits paying their obscene salaries).
But for now, I just want them beat the Spurs to make a statement and to sew up the 1st seed so they don't have to play those gnarly Grizzlies.

Check.
Just a great win, the night after a great win, against two of their top competitors back-to-back on the road.
These guys are just so damn good. It still amazes me.
And I'm not sure egos play a major role in how things are decided with this team, especially from a strategy standpoint.
The leadership group of this team are a smart bunch, and ruthless when they have to be. Plus they have Jerry West in the conversation, and that dude's the shit. I think if they believe they're better with Durant coming off the bench, Durant will come off the bench.
It seems to me that Durant's defense will probably fit right back in and be fine, as that guy's skills are freakish at his height, it's just the mentality of the offense with him out there... one of the great scorers in recent times, it seemed to me that everyone leaned toward him instead of being aggressive & lethal, as they all have been lately.
On the other hand, maybe this run where they've been playing so confidently, especially maybe Klay Thompson, will be the surge the others need to make Durant "the other guy", which would be pretty good.
Chemistry. It's weird.
Whatever, it's a good problem to have and they're sittin' pretty pretty, and lookin' really good right now.
And now is a really good time to be lookin' good.
Go Warriors!

Durant as the 3rd option
Durant as the 3rd option could really do some damage... I just don't think the core that has been winning together now for 3 plus years is able to defer and stay as potent. Either way, I'mm looking forward to seeing how it all pans out. It's been a great season so far and they are looking great heading into the playoffs.

I went to the game the other
I went to the game the other night with a standing room ticket, and I had a blast.
One observation...
I don't know if they're better without Durant, but they're definitely more entertaining to watch without him.
Dude's a ball hog.
That's probably a bit harsh, because he is freaking amazing with the ball, but every time he gets it he looks to shoot, while when he's off the court they play more as a team, passing the ball all over, everyone involved almost equally, the ball zipping from corner to corner until they find the open shot.
I know he adds defensively and he is a brilliant scorer, but for me the Warriors are more fun without him.
But then winning is the most fun. Could they win it all without him?
Can thy win it all WITH him???
We'll see.
Go Warriors!

Damn. Winners win.
Damn. Winners win.
These games in late April won't be remembered in June, but that was a hell of a win tonight, with not just Durant out but two other major contributors as well. Oh, and also their head coach.
They were getting their butts kicked on the road, but they hung in and did what they do (play great defense) and at the end it was the Warriors feeling good, and the other guys wondering what the hell happened.
It's a rare thing to be a true championship caliber team in any sport. It's really fun to see the Warriors so clearly in that caliber.

That's not a Warriors thread,
That's not a Warriors thread, that's a troll thread.
Still, over 200 on viva is noteworthy for sure.
I've been to two playoff games this year. I usually make it to one or two regular season games, but now even the regular season games are crazy expensive so I hadn't been to one all year, but there's nothing like the playoffs so I custied up and bought a standing room ticket for $150 for the second game of the first series (Kerr's last game).
I had a fuckin' blast, a bunch of us crammed into the back of an ADA area at the top of a lower bowl section directly behind the basket.
Then about 4:30 on the afternoon of the second game of the Utah series my friend calls me and says he has an extra comp in the venue's General Manager's box. It was an effort to get to the venue by 7:30, but damn, free ticket, free beer, free food, private bathroom, great view.
It was an interesting contrast to the previous game where I spent BIG for everything and was smashed into a small space against a wall. No doubt the rich get everything and they get it all very easy while the rest of us pay and pay and pay to do it all the hard way. The funny thing is, I enjoyed both events about equally.
I seriously doubt I'll get into any more games this year, but there really is nothing like being in the room, and for a playoff game it's truly amazing.
Go To The Game!!!

I chose to not go all the way
At the last minute I chose not to go all the way up to TxR tonight for the Scott Amendola show so I got to watch almost simultaneously the Warriors manslaughter the Spurs and the Giants beat the always annoying Cardinals in 13, with the kid who wears #22 the hero. In the past #22 has been a hero number for the Giants. It looks like it will continue to be.

Amazing finish to a really
Amazing finish! And really great overall game, both teams were on fire, but the Warriors proved they have what the naysayers say they lack: Toughness, Grit and Heart.
I'm also glad that both teams have remained healthy so there can be excuses, unlike the last two years. The Cavs are a beast of a team and these last 3 finals have been great sports entertainment.
Really enjoyed watching Warriors games all season and I'm looking forward to what they will look like next year.
Assuming they can bring Curry back, they will be favored to win it all again. Hopefully the league will schedule more than 3 games against the Spurs... the Warriors will be motivated to crush them after all the chatter about how SA would have beat them had Kawaiaiahi not been 'taken out' by za za (on a side note, it's funny to me how the haters conveniently forget that he injured it in the prior series, and re-injured it on his own bench player's foot only moments before za za stepped under him... dude was playing on borrowed time).
Already looking forward to more Warrior basketball!

Nice.
Nice.
VERY nice.
As nice as it gets.
So many great stories here; Steph, Durant, Kerr, Green, McCaw and others all have real stories in this, but IMO maybe none greater than David West.
That guy truly paid for his joy and satisfaction, literally millions. But what's the price point for true joy and ultimate career satisfaction, especially when you already have tons of money? I think tonight West would tell you what he gave up was a bargain and I agree & admire him for it.
It's all very cool, and pretty damn great.
And yet it's so odd how so many almost desperately look to minimize those things.
I have no idea how this team ranks historically, and as always I really couldn't care less, but they just beat the defending champion and successfully avenged their heartbreaking last-second loss against the same team a year ago, a team that has multiple stars and arguably the greatest player of all time.
That's pretty cool, and has to be considered pretty great.
Just like two years ago, seeing the Warriors win a championship reminded me of when I was 15 years old and Rick Barry, Clifford Ray, Keith Wilkes and that bunch shocked the world and blew my mind.
It really is far out.
Way to Go Warriors!
