Would you trust a doctor who supports Trump with your health?

Forums:

Not sure that I would beyond a "guard rail" situation or if I had no other choice.

It's certainly possible the average Trump supporter's aversion to using logic and reason is somehow compartmentalized to "just Trump", but would you be willing to bet your health or life on it?

I've never interviewed a doctor.

No.

no id be cool with it. if i refused doctors based on their support of politicians that i believe to be massively immoral and deeply evil i probably wouldnt have any doctors left to go to.

im not sure that being a trump supporter is that much less crazy than being a genuine fan of hillary.

Last time I picked a Doc, I made checkup appointments with four.

One of the four was just floored that I was comparison shopping ... it was completely out of his imagination. He was a rigid, 'numbers are everything'  guy.

It felt kinda good to explain to him that he had failed the interview and to walk away

There may be a lot of doctors that support anybody that is not for single payer health care.  Doctors like the way it works now.

It is rare that a single question can so totally encapsulate the ignorance and stupidity of the progressive left.

Congratulations.

thom supports white nationalism.

my dentist doesn't like the govt. telling him he can't wash his car....

I believe in nuance and celebrating our differences as Americans.

I have never talked politics with any of my doctors.

Is that common?

I would trust a doctor who is knowledgeable, compassionate, confident, and well-respected with integrity.

How anyone supports Trump at this point is beyond me.

While the phrase "voting against your own interests" might apply to many working class Trump supporters, the same can not be said about those Republicans with money who directly benefit from many of Trump's policies like lower taxes and less government regulation.

My father was born in Uranous. Such a great Uranean..The best. Bigly best.

Some say that Uranous is the best.  The others, well they must have dumbo ears.

(Thom - See how fucking stupid you come across?)

you want ben carson opening up your brain?

I believe this is the third "would you support a biz that supports Trump?" thread you have started. It is possible you have started more. Supporting, or not supporting, any biz based on whatever criteria you use is your right so have at it. That being said, it is a fact that most mid to major size corporations donate money to many candidates and elected officials on both sides of the aisle...occasionally those outside the major parties. Would you stop supporting the majority of hospitals? Gas stations? Banks? The list can go on and on. Giving money is support, even if evenly divided.

I've mentioned this before but if the above is good for the goose; shouldn't it also be good for the gander and they should be able to refuse to service an individuals needs based on the same criteria if by doing so does not put the potential client at undo risk? Running out of gas is rarely life threatening so if you have a bumper sticker supporting XYZ party or candidate, they are not going to sell you gas. Same goes for hospitals. If you might die we have to server you but otherwise, you are on your own.

I would hope that anyone looking for a doctor would, if they had to, put their political leanings way down on the list of reasons to use that doctor's services or not. Things like skill set, professional recognition, etc seem to be things that should more influence a choice. Still, one has, in most cases, a choice.

FOM...if your house was on fire, would you ask the 911 operator if the fire crew are tRump supporters before sending them out?

Science is real.  Trumps bullshit isn't.  I don't have any room in my life for a doctor that doesn't believe in science.

I wouldn't have a chance to make a choice in an emergency. If I were choosing a dr or surgeon I'd sure as hell way every option.

Plenty of people with certain types of bumper stickers have been passed right on by when in need of help as well as there are many instances of health care workers refusing to treat patients based on beliefs.

Just a reminder that the Russian troll farms have been actively trying to sow discord and division and are attempting to pit American again American.

Carry on.

Bundy bred beef tastes like Freedom. Fact.

are the russians making bk refute bernie?

No need for the Russian troll farm this time around.  Save the $$.  The Dem's will help take out their own candidates and usher in Trump 2020.

I believe this is the third "would you support a biz that supports Trump?" thread you have started.<<<

While thread might be a "kissing cousin" of sorts, where did I raise the issue of support - in economic terms?

The central aspect of my question is whether or not you might deem a doctor's support of Trump being as a red flag & affect your trust in so far as it might relate to their ability to effectively employ reason and logic in light of the facts?

I could care less about Trump's apparent political leanings or ideology; the critical issue is whether or not he's compromised and how far he's willing to push the envelope to serve his own interests.

FOM...if your house was on fire, would you ask the 911 operator if the fire crew are tRump supporters before sending them out?<<<

No, I would not ask.  Health is different than almost anything.

There are things you can replace
And others you cannot

I've mentioned this before but if the above is good for the goose; shouldn't it also be good for the gander and they should be able to refuse to service an individuals needs based on the same criteria if by doing so does not put the potential client at undo risk? Running out of gas is rarely life threatening so if you have a bumper sticker supporting XYZ party or candidate, they are not going to sell you gas. Same goes for hospitals. If you might die we have to server you but otherwise, you are on your own.<<<

It would suck big time for things to come down to this, but I still believe total economic warfare is a legitimate weapon if all else fails.

But again, the question I asked at the outset is not based on this premise.

Health...and restaurants?

and restaurants?<<<

I like the fact FOM tries to make people think with all of his questions.

Unfortunately, I think many questions fall short.

A++ for effort!

Using the brain is definitely a good thing!

Unfortunately, I think many questions fall short<<<

Our country (and arguably the world) is being driven off the cliff by 1/3 of the voters in the US.

What questions would help prevent this from happening?

Me and my doc end up talking about live music for close to have of my appointment, and then I hit him up for free samples

I am the worst patient, I never leave the dentist office without triple dipping into both the free toothpaste and free floss buckets at the check out, just like old shoplifting days, but it’s free shit, and I still gotta be sneaky

teeth cleaning days I work the hygienist for an extra synsodine samples

if I was a doctor or dentist I would refuse me services

You can read more about this subject here: https://www.phantasytour.com ....<<<

But are you willing to say something to the zone from that thread?

Perhaps I am fortunate.  Weather still seems to be go to small talk sense of duty short conversation subject.

While trading services.

^ and this is the guy we're supposed to trust calling balls and strikes?

I ask again,  I have never talked politics  when I was ill and in need of a doctor. I really don't t know the political stance of my MDs.

I would not care to hear her/his views on my time/nickle.

Is this common?

I haven't either and the thought crossed my mind in the interim during a followup with a Spinal surgeon this past summer.   I have great faith in his abilities, and when I thought about this question, I secretly decided it wasn't worth asking him ... although would suspect he has the common sense to know truth from fiction.

That's the critical point:  we all have and invariably use "filters" to navigate our lives, even when it seems it's a pure sensory intake.

I couldn't help but find the consideration of an "umpire" under this light to be interesting.

I agree. I don't talk politics with a drunk either.  Shit don't mix.

I kinda check out where they got their degree from, beyond that I could give a fuck unless they have bad bedside manners

my doctor volunteers at HOB so he can see shows for free, we talk a lot about music, shows and sports at my appointments, I think I got a good one

Don't ask - Don't tell

I don't care about such petty bullshit.

My podiatrist Dr McHugh is a huge New England sports fan and has worked on members of the red sox, celtics and patriots. When the celtics went public a few years back he was one of the first to buy shares, he has em framed on his office wall. I would never consider going to anyone else cuz he's just the best. And a wonderfully funny cool guy. So he's on the other side of the sports fence from me, so what. No dr I've ever seen puts they're political leanings around the office, that would just be stupid. But if they did, I'd still go but I may have to school em a bit. You can't educate without first interacting.

Randy's an asshat but apparently a good foot guy.

He's the type of guy that fought development in that town until he wanted to open his winery up in a non conforming zone but yeah.....great guy.

^ who's randy ?  What town ?

My guy is Jack, he don't own a winery.

I call him hatchet Jack when he comes near me with his cuttin tools

Watertown, no?

No dr I've ever seen puts they're political leanings around the office<<<

Is it really about political leanings at this point?

IMO, it's about discerning fact from fiction.

While they might be responsible for such, do they all abide?

Medical opinions are just that: opinions. Gravitate towards providers that have a similar point of view towards both pro-active and re-active medical practices. Don't overthink this, FOM. (I know, I know...)

Dr. Youssef at Spine Colorado in Durango is the orthopedic spinal surgeon I was referring to yesterday.  Had great results with the c6/c7 artificial disc replacement he performed on my three years ago & know of many others that swear by him.  Apparently Bill Walton went to him for a consultation & perhaps more.  Hopefully, you don't ever need to go, but would likely make the trip if I lived on the front range and was in need.

So, yeah I realized in the interim that I may have "gas lit" myself ... but had mostly thought about the ump & this thread!

I would 100% trust a trump supporting doctor with my health..

even if I was a democrat I would.

I thought the majority of doctors are republicans that's the way it's always been.

I wonder the percentage of upper echelon of Hollywood/government officials and elite soldiers/ sports stars etc. The ratio of their 'best doctors in the world' that treat them .. I wonder what percentage of that would be republicans? (maybe not trump supporter but voting republican none the less)

Doctors are typically wealthy and wealthy people usually vote republican, my friends. unless you're some illuminati hollywood weirdo I guess

As trust in the word of this single individual; without any corroboration; as the stakes go up exponentially; the question is even more poignant, IMO.

Removing a mole might be one thing, but as significance of the issue increases, the more hesitant I'd be.

We've long been in territory where it's not a matter of whether you agree with his ideology, it's whether you even LEAVE OPEN THE POSSIBILITY of him being entirely corrupt from the head to toe.

It's this failure to even consider the possibility in light of the stakes that summarily disqualifies you as an individual with sound judgment.

Would you trust a doctor who subscribed hundreds of individuals oxys for back pain?

In fact I'm not sure if I would go to a 'trump hater' doctor who wears the blue goggles and carries with them a bias which likely would affect their treatment of me once they found out I was conservative. .

.but of course thats hypothetical...I wouldn't have to worry about it because chances are they wiould be republican. right?

and I guaran-fuckin-tee a republican doctor is less likely to show bias in a professional setting and would give you the very best care they could no matter what your affiliation /race/ or religion.

..they'd save and heal up a terrorist if only that they could stand trial they are less likely to be biased at all.imo

..so take that

G-Reg..

You mean a criminal tim?

What on earth happened to Jacquelyn Starer?

The Ashland woman, 68, was an apparently successful doctor, an expert on addiction treatment who was quoted in the Globe and elsewhere about her specialty.

On Tuesday, she was arrested by federal authorities for her alleged role in the Jan. 6 insurrection, after reportedly being caught on video punching a police officer in the Capitol rotunda.

(the article isn't paywalled if you keep trying)

>>>Me and my doc end up talking about live music for close to have of my appointment

I have a new Doc. He's a Billy Strings fan (he'll be in AC).

So I guess it's 50/50 he leans to the right?

I know many I encounter here on the northern gulf coast are Repubs.  I practice don't ask, don't tell generally.

If someone wants my money and they are loud and public about T#@*& that will break the deal.

No one in my social circle claims that trash however, maybe I filter a bit.

Here is a picture of the good doc interacting with the police

If she were my doctor?

"You're fired!"

I'd sooner trust a witch doctor.

I don't trust anyone who admires that shitweasel. It's like boasting that you enjoy eating vomit.

I have a new Doc. He's a Billy Strings fan (he'll be in AC).

Awesome. Billy Strings has done a few stints fundraising for BLM and the ACLU. I'd say if your doc is a trumper then it's not because of Billy's influence.

That said there were a few "airport departure" hissy fits after Billy put this video out, but I doubt they were actual fans and more likely just roving bigots looking for dumb things to be mad about.
