Patti Smith Tribute for Jerry

Patti Smith has always had kind words for Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter. Very shortly after Jerry died in 1995, I saw The Patti Smith group perform at Jerry's home base, The Warfield Theatre in San Francisco. She played 'Not Fade Away', which had me in tears for the memories of The Dead doing that song. If my memory serves correctly, Patti did a late show at the nearby Slim's venue that night and did 2 other songs the Dead played, Black Peter being one of them. Here, Patti shares a song that she wrote 25 years ago on Aug. 9th, the day Jerry died, called 'Grateful' . Thank you, Patti! heart

Thanks for putting this out here, Mike. We had 3 posts in different places and yours is the easiest to find.

I liked the Early SNL parody sketches of Patti. Now I forget if it was Larraine Newman or Gilda Radner,  but they were quite funny.

Someone look it up and post a U-Tube.
