So my house fridge has been descending into the netherworlds of uncoolness as of late. Just not chilling like it should.
Today my goal is to score a suitable replacement; some fellow at Princeton Junction seems to have The One.
He is Pakistani, so we will haggle a bit. The larger issue is removing the old one and its contents.
There is some Venison in the Freezer, but has it partially thawed ??
So I may have to fire up some Cherry & Hickory to cook it for the Hou nd.
Hüsky will eat very well, I think.

i bought a big stainless
i bought a big stainless double door job from PC richards about 2 months ago. price was right. black friday pricing 50% off.
old one was still working and was going to give it to a friend. guys started by removing old fridge.
turns out the new one was too big to get up the stairs so they had to bring the old one back up and bring the new one back to pc richards.
i had emptied the old one and took the opportunity to clean it entirely. looks great now and decided to stick with my old one.
but i learned something, asides from the fact that a fat elephant will not fit in a skinny keyhole regardless of who is trying to squeeze it through.
the delivery guy told me that now the fridge that would not make it upstairs to my kitchen would go back to pc richards and be sold as a floor model at a price far reduced from even my black friday price. he went on to tell me about his 3000.00 fridge that he scored as a floor model for less than 1000.00. once the cardboard and strapping are removed for delivery it instantly becomes a floor model.
he came as close as he could to calling me a idiot for not shopping floor models. i was still a paying customer after all so he was choosing his words a bit.
im happy with my old fridge now that its clean but if i ever decide to replace it im going to the local american legion where my buddy hangs out. hes a manager at pc richards in paramus (if anyone in the area ever needs anything at this PC richards location his name is Charlie Cianni. tell him you know Eddie from Garfield. he will hook you up. lowball the shit out of him. he likes to play). im going to ask him to give me a call if a floor model arrives (double door stainless ice maker frigidaire). not 36 inch either as i now know i can only fit 33.
on another note - stick with the old standards on fridges (frigidaire etc). forget these new samsungs, LG's etc. my pal at PC richards told me that being these companies are new to the fridge game replacement parts are next to impossible to obtain if theres a problem, and there are plenty of problems with these new comers.
and i hope the hound enjoys his dinner Stu!

Good luck, Stu. Can't be without a refrigerator for long. The freezer went on my garage fridge, but going to wait until spring to replace it.

We ordered a new Whirlpool
We ordered a new Whirlpool yesterday..$750. Old one was sounding like a grazing buffalo and the shelves were self-destructing. It was only 20 years old. New one arrives Thurs. - wasn't in stock.

5 years ago I got one of those double door things with the freezer on the bottom. I got the 36" x 36", so it's huge.
I fucking hate the thing. If the freezer isn't loaded properly and the door isn't slammed it doesn't seal properly. One should not have to vigilant about their damn fridge!

Picked up a new - used fridge
Picked up a new - used fridge yesterday. $75 bucks, great shape, a very basic model. The Indian fellow (Sri) scoffed at my weak haggling attempt: "How about 60 cash?"
It would have taken hours to negotiate to $67.50. His neighborhood is full of 7-yr. old luxury homes on tiny lots, shoulder to shoulder. Right near the Princeton Junction train station, maybe a ten minute walk. I wonder how many actually walk there on their commute to NYC? Place used to be fields/woods.
Took a quick walk through the remaining patch of Woods adjacent to his place. Lots of Sweetgum, thin brush, not too many trails. There is a stream running through, which people dump their empty oil containers nearby, and one old tire. How fucked up is that ??

Not really interested in the
Not really interested in the icemaker-water dispenser. It's great if you have kids, but I can fill an ice-cube tray and the tiny filters fail quickly, leaving particles in the ice.
