The House passed a 3 trillion dollar relief package in May and a 2.2 trillion dollar relief package in October.  Neither was voted on in the Senate.  

The proposal at the end of Oct included a one time payment, but no extension of unemployment benefits and it exempted companies from COVID-19 related liability until 2024.

McConnell stated publicly that the Senate would not consider the legislation. The Senate was on a tight schedule to get Barrett confirmed before the election.

The legislation was higher than they wanted and she didn't  want to look like she was negotiable with republicans. Again, we live in a failed state. They could have made an arrangement but the dems didn't want to budge either. So stop making excuses for them. They are part of it as well. The 2000$ payment stimulus was just a play that they knew wouldn't pass after the 600$ one did. Sad to see the dems try to deflect that one away from themselves when pelosi got on her stage and talked about how "significant" it was.

They could have passed this sized bill earlier but then they chose not to continue negotiations because a second stimulus would have proved well for Trump in his campaign so the dems kept high balling knowing to republicans would turn it down. Let's just hope and pray that Trump was some sort of political anomaly that is rare and only comes around once in a lifetime. For whatever reasons, tens of millions saw him as a cult-like leader. He became president because he was some enigmatic personality, who  came around at the right time. The $2000 payment is the 5th covid related releif bill to pass in the Democratic controlled House.  Only 2 of the 5 have been voted on in the Senate.  

How can Pelosi get McConnell to vote on the other three?
