Please Define "Other Stuff"

I always thought Other Stuff was a catch-all for pretty much anything.

There are also many private folders here that only A Listers, Kool Kidz, ZOTYs, Good Ones, etc. can access.

The Rob Barraco folder has some good stuff going on right now.

Take a look at which threads were moved to Politics Folder.

IMHO, those which are most heated/controversial and are opening the door to conflict/insults/unkind responses are more likely to be moved to the Politics Folder, where people who enter appear to understand that there's a little more leeway for more passionate debate.

I don't think that it's possible to form clear black-and-white rules about this.  You know that the thread has crossed the line when it's moved.

I kind of think of Other Stuff as home for topics of interest to the general population, rather than specifics of the subject matter.  The Politics/Music/Caregiving are for the people who'd like to delve more deeply into the specialized subject.

That, of course, is my opinion and it makes sense to me.

First off, I am representing my own views and not those of anybody else.  How could I?

BrianK asked a question and I understand his concern (at least I think that I do).

Without an official answer to BK's questions, we have to look ourselves for answers, based on the evidence in front of us.

Which Political threads are moved and which remain?  What general characteristics do each have in common?  What does Judit post in response to people who cross the proverbial line from kindness, civility, etc?  I haven't truly analyzed it, but the most heated threads tend to go to what some Zoners feel is some form of purgatory.  I've also seen some go over there not long after a Zoner makes a request for it to be moved.

Does anyone remember the Maplethorpe controversies?  I was of an impressionable age when I noted that there is no clear line between, in this case, Art and Erotica (or other material/subjects that many may find objectionable).  It's something that needs to be hashed out by the community.  I think I remember it not being terribly clean cut, as far as the Judicial System was concerned (I could be wrong about that, though)

I don't know, I kind of see the whole "Folders" situation as something similar.  Administrators started this site, work on it, and I can't think of anyone else who would be more fitting to deal with the "Rule Breakers" if that's what people might want to call them.

I like each and every one of the administrators, so I have compassion for them and what they have to deal with regarding our motley community.

I also deal with a TON of "That's not FAIR!" from my 9 year-old and my 14 year-old on a daily basis, so that may be why I have a need to respond to threads/complaints like this.
