One elephant in the room I’ve observed here lately is a somewhat militant insistence to have any dissent silenced in regards to an election stolen in broad daylight, that’s interesting...

a) why?

b) when has that sort of thing happened before in history?

c) how did that end?

Another discussion I feel as if I have a right to initiate:

What are the unforeseen consequences of systematic curtailment of free speech to facilitate a stolen election?

     Please discuss...

It gives idiots without any common sense something to believe in?

please stop with the al gore threads.

<< Why?

1). Because liars have their pants on fire, and as loving caring individuals, we try and put that fire out (before you burn your seditious traitorous nuts off).  It's not censorship, it's soap washing your filthy mouth out

<< when has this happened historically?

2).  To many elementary (and younger) school children who lie over and over again (sadly, your cult hero never emotionally got out of the 3rd grade)

<<Results?

3).  They hopefully learned manners and respect for the telling of the truth...  (or, they became president, and kick their golf balls from the rough to the greens, drive their carts all over the course, and other acts of lies, or at least, very boorish behavior)

> a somewhat militant insistence to have any dissent silenced

It's not silencing dissent when it's fact-checking. Fuck off, troll.

Fuck this guy.  At long last, give him nothing but tumbleweeds.

>>   What are the unforeseen consequences of systematic curtailment of free speech to facilitate a stolen election? <<

Please provide an example of how and when this happened.

Are you talking about Twitter and Facebook locking Trump's accounts? If so, he had a press room that would fill with reporters anytime he wanted. Heck, he could get a live feed on national TV anytime he wanted.  If you actually think Trump was "silenced" by social media, you're too far gone to help....

St. Stephen!!!!!!!

Does bry understand that no one curtailed anyone's freedom of speech? Has he Actually read the amendment?

All Bryen needs to read are his own posts to see that his freedom of speech hasn't been curtailed.

Still spewing treason. Why not banned?

Our country was founded by some folks who didn't agree with their government so left to go form their own instead of sitting home boo hooing about it. Real estate may be a lil more scarce these days but I'm sure you could setup a cute lil colony somewhere. You may have to defeat some locals to get started but with your persuasive abilities, they may eventually join you and you could let them live on a piece of your newly conquered land.

I hear Russia's nice this time of year.

Dubai has better golf courses (closer to hell temperatures)

Ha Ha you were duped!
You are one big sucker.

Yes, the war on drugs, a right wing war against hippies and blacks...  another excellent example to be against Republicans!

You don't  seem so unconditionally lovey today...is it because Qhorns isn't interested in tummy sticks anymore? It's ok, we knew your Schtick was bullshit all along so you can skip it from now on. Makes you look like more of an idiot anyway and you really don't need help with that

Bry is having a melty.

Do you think it was the rhyme "duped" with "pooped" that set him off? I thought it was pretty good for a happy hour poem.

I guess we should cut him some slack seeing how 4 years of his life was just proven a complete and utter sham. Duped!? Can you believe it?  I mean he just spent all that money on a fur hat and a Viking helmet.

Relax bro -- maybe you can return your insurrection costume once you get the pepper spray odor out of it.

Same reason every other sock troll doesn't answer questions, Ned. It wouldn't be trolling.

>>why do you think we left England

Well, it all started at the end of the French-Indian War. The colonists came to realize that their soldiers, who fought alongside the Brits, were paid about 1/3. They also realized that the Brits were beatable.

About 1/4 of British colonial subjects lived in North America. The King restricted their movement. They also had to pay taxes to England to cover their own security, the British military presence. This was unique to the entire British Empire.

The Colonists were pretty bummed, and at the Conference of Albany proposed a union of the colonies, as a way to lobby the Brits. From there it became action/reaction. The Colonists were treated like petulant children with all sorts of Acts, and their reactions became bigger, yielding harsher and more restrictive Acts. Many people don't realize the tipping point, the Stamp Act. This was the one that affected everyone.

You see, candles were super expensive and most households only had one to burn sparingly. The only thing they could do after dark was play cards. That was the #1 form of entertainment. Those cards had to be made in England, or they were super taxed. If you were found making your own, you could be carted off to England to be tried by a jury of not your peers, and given harsh sentences. The Colonists were pissed, and that's when it really heated up.

Interestingly, many of the first 10 Amendments, the Bill of Rights, are direct responses to those Acts imposed by the Brits, the last and harshest collectively known as the Intolerable Acts. They were so intolerable that they became the fuse in the powder keg of revolution.

Oh, was that a rhetorical question? Either way, it really isn't pertinent to what's going on today. Even the Gay Pride Boyz, Electric Boogaloo Boys, and Queefanon have equal representation at local, state and federal levels. Their votes are equal to everyone else's. They just don't like that their Trumpfuck lost and are throwing temper tantrums.

Alan does strike me as a bit narcy...but maybe that's just my heightened state of intuition, he does have a super-narcy vibe though, always casting aspersions on people that chose to leave their comfort zone and travel beyond their zip code to see shows, I see how Biden appeals to people that never traveled to see Garcia, people that claim the grapes were sour, very Bidenesque.

I remember living with no electricity for years in the deep woods of the Pacific Northwest, we'd play chess by candlelight.

The conspiracy theory is the legitimacy of Biden's presidency...but I'm sure you already knew that.

How many posts did you make about the alleged coup Bry, only to have you jack off to your insurrectionists buddies actually attempting a coup, killing cops, chanting hang pence, kill pelosi, kill the jews...   perhaps you didn't see enough of Jerry to realize how wrong you were, continue to be, and could possibly see some jail time for your words and deeds, though maybe not the decades to life your cop killing, democracy destroying clones of yours will be seeing...

But alas, you're unable to see truth, know facts, or even give them consideration...  but you're excellent at trolling this place with true redundancy, suppose pedophile racists are like that, consistent...

Even Republicans are ready to kick Donald to the curb.

They are circulating an 8 point memo encouraging conviction in the Senate.

They are tired of his lies about the election and his lies to his followers that lead to a violent Insurrection, killing 5 at the Capitol.

Only low information dead enders are left around this failed president and failed human being....willing marks.

As the lies continue to unravel

     "jail time for your words"

     Who's the fascist?

Interesting, and somewhat revealing, after the theft...curtailment of speech, somehow labeling dissent or stating the obvious that the election was stolen as a thought crime, how convenient

Do you understand what freedom of speech is? I'd like to hear your thoughts on whose constitutional rights regarding freedom of speech were violated with specific examples.

I'll wait

I spent all that time and effort on the roots of the Revolution, and not even a acknowledgement? I even traveled to see Garcia. I'm deeply hurt.

I have an old friend that I was pretty close with. We were roomies on and off for years, and saw a lot of shows together. After a lifetime of alcohol abuse he got pretty bad wet brain. At a Hampton Phish show he lost his shit and went crazy. Ever since he has been a conspiracy theorist. One is that he is a joint experiment between the CIA and Nazis, bred with superpowers and put here to infiltrate the Dead and Phish scenes. He even saw his file in the Navy Intelligence bunker.

He's been prattling on about pedo stuff since then, and now says he was the original Q. I parted ways with him a few years ago because he's a douchebag, but check his FB page daily in fascination. It's all pro Trump, Q,  Commie, Fascist craziness. Here's a couple from the last 24 hours:

"Eric Swalwell shamelessly fu**s Chinese spies & gladly takes their $$$ to become a US Congressman. Yet, he's somehow an "impeachment manager" @ Donald Trump's trial. The anti-American evil Demoncraps are all fu**ing traitors. Every last 1 of them."

"Trump was BY FAR the greatest US President in history. Now, we're all doomed to an Earth entirely run by Satanists, transvestites, Communist heathens & billionaire pedophiles."

Now, keep in mind that this dude has serious wet brain, is a convicted felon, an admitted sex addict,  abused any other drug than opiates, and has also spent time in institutions. Is this the profile of many of the Trumpfucks around here?

Still waiting

not surprisingly

How did he miss opiates?

"Shouting fire in a crowded theater" is a popular analogy for speech or actions made for the principal purpose of creating panic. The phrase is a paraphrasing of Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.'s opinion in the United States Supreme Court case Schenck v. United States in 1919, which held that the defendant's speech in opposition to the draft during World War I was not protected free speech under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The case was later partially overturned by Brandenburg v. Ohio in 1969, which limited the scope of banned speech to that which would be directed to and likely to incite imminent lawless action (e.g. a riot).[1]

The paraphrasing differs from Holmes's original wording in that it typically does not include the word falsely, while also adding the word "crowded" to describe the theatre.[2] The original wording used in Holmes's opinion ("falsely shouting fire in a theatre and causing a panic") highlights that speech that is dangerous and false is not protected, as opposed to speech that is dangerous but also true.

What I cannot wrap my head around is;

Republicans held the white house

the three states that were contested were republicans states

republicans and democrats work side by side on Election Day

the courts in each of these republican states ruled against almost all legal battles against Trump to overturn

How did the Democrats pull it off?
if true it make the Republican leadership under Trump look totally inept and stupid, coupled with Covid response, the insurrection, it appears they have the barrel of the gun pointed at their own Temple and are about to pull the trigger. Oh boy and they may spilt into two parties

From here it looks like insurrection is the only card to play. We all know they will not change philosophy and try to attract more, brown and poor voters. Well they have the poor vote in rural areas but the Democratic school system in the cities have just made the city power too smart to fall for it all.

>What I cannot wrap my head around is;

you must first wrap your head in tinfoil, dude.

(cultists don't question the false premise of their beliefs)

A mob, incited by the president of the United States, stormed the halls of Congress in an effort to prevent it from certifying Trump's electoral defeat. During the attack, the mob killed a police officer and went looking for the Vice President and members of Congress.

Trump installed sycophants in the three top civilian positions of the DOD six days after the election who were instrumental in delaying a response to the Trump riot.

Trump himself did nothing to stop the riot instead enjoying it on tv.  He did not even bother to check on his Vice President for whom the mob was calling out to be hung.

As the Congress reconvened to certify the EC votes many GOP House members raised the false argument that the election was tainted.

Every single point made by these traitors was refuted four or five times each in the nearly 70 court cases  that killed Trump's lies, three from the Supreme Court with three Trump appointees.

To persist in this coup attempt is not only devoid of intelligence it is treason at this point.

Nancy, I really can wrap my head around it, and I also need to fix my auto spell mistake, fuckin ai

Well they have the poor vote in rural areas but the Democratic school system in the cities have just made the city poor too smart to fall for it all.

aig, you have just too much good sense in there for some to understand

>>How did he miss opiates?

Beats me, but it's too bad. Probably would have chilled him the fuck out and done less damage than the booze and blow.
