Bobby playing a Telecaster

He plays one for the entire show.  And Jerry seems to be playing a Strat copy.  Anybody have the details?  Equipment held at customs?

The way I remember, is they played this gig when another was rained out...and only if the didn't have to bring their gear.

Thanks.  Shabazz has my copy of Deadbase so I couldn't check.

The oops shows. They were scheduled to play in South France & somehow got rained out. They opted to celebrate Bob's birthday in Amsterdam. Played rented instruments. Actually I believe that's a Yamaha Jerry's playing (could be wrong of course).

It's for sure not a Fender

Here's Bob's birthday show from the next night.

Just noticed one of the comments in the above link says the instruments were borrowed from the Who. Hadn't heard that before, but Pete Townsend did show up at one of the other shows on the tour, so it's possible.

Not so sure how much I trust Youtube comments

I heard that before..they were Who gigs, that were canceled because they were breaking up.

The Who tour that was cancelled was in March, and The Who and The Dead

did one show, that was broadcast, at Grugahalle on 3/28. The only time I heard

of them borrowing equipment from them was for Egypt. The stuff they used

in Amsterdam was rented.

(The Bobby birthday show was the very last time the Grateful Dead did

an acoustic set).

Thanks Neal.  Some dark times for Jerry.

It's actually pretty amazing what Jerry went through and accomplished, and at times didn't accomplish, over that 20 year period '75-'95.

Just looked, and there's no mention in the book, Grateful Dead Gear.

Shows are goood

Flying Karazamov Brothers also on gig...
