I truly (officially?) became a Zoner in 2009. I was uninformed about the Further Fox shows in Oakland (found out about it when my wife, who worked across the street from the Fox, came home and told me that all these deadhead-types were hanging out all around the place). I went to the Fox with my finger in the air to no avail.
I selfishly wanted to have more of an inside scoop on future happenings and that's when I joined you all. And I'm grateful that I did!
I honestly don't remember when I started, just couldn't post for the last 5 years on the old site, LOL... rarely posted anyway, was mainly enjoying Taper Robs streams, but later when I got on FB (2009), the options for streams increased dramatically, let alone Nugtv, relix, etc that came after that. Ironic, since i've done a lot of stream posting on this site, partially in honor of Taper Rob!
2008...First post in caregivers thread as I was raising my drug addicted sisters son, Peg came on and told me to ck out "other stuff" for fun ( we still laugh about that to this day...lol )
Had NO clue or experience about mssg boards, but met some wonderful people that I still keep in touch with .
Sis is clean now, kid is 21, and I am older and wiser...;)
For the life of me can't remember how I found out about this place, but it was my sole social media experience until 2016 when I finally signed up for FB.
I had been using Philzone.com for a while to follow Phil setlists, not noticing or interested in the "discussion" link.
But for some reason, at the two '06 shows at the Warfield that were filmed (2nd night jumper show) I became very aware of & fascinated by how young so many in the crowd were, and at some point soon after I stumbled into .org & Other Stuff.
^ somewhere in the 1999-2000 range. It's all a blur.
Same. Finally met the "2012 crew" who ran the site and who were putting on a Terence McKenna tribute in Dec 2000 at the 7th Note in SF -- Lost at Last "headlined" and Phil was a guest. Nice bunch of folks. A friend and I were doing lightshows and decorative eyecandy in the Bay area and we worked that show. Big fun.

I'm a baby compared to all you old fux. That's rare for me these days, so I'll take it.
I did swing by the zone in early January 2001 looking for a recording of 12/31/2000. I can't remember who hooked me up, it might have been Tapecat, but this place just seemed indecipherable/incomprehensible compared to DNC, which is where I was spending a lot of my time back then. I finally made my way back here and took the plunge around the time that Furthur was ending their run.
Was active in the tix folder 2010-2011. I steered clear of OS until 2012 when I lost my home to Hurricane Sandy and was desperate to unload my Phil and Friends tix for the Wellmont shows
Lurked and listened to the music on the sight since 2001 and started posting in Dec 2007 and in Jan 2008 I saw The Revolution w GDAD and met many Zoners. I remember Hoover, Mylar and Lord Henry were in that band. Time sure fly's
Earl, I'm surprised you remember that evening. I wish I did. I imagine I was pretty shy; since it was pretty weird and daunting to step into a group of people who had been sharing each other's worlds in the ways that Hep C did. Well, so glad I made it.
The old, old Hep C folder was very welcoming to all newcomer's and was also very tightknit, as many of us were doing the "old" gold standard regime for 48 weeks, and it was friggin' brutal. I was on there every night.
June of 04. Thought to myself,"Phil has HepC, maybe I'll google Phil Lesh and HepC." HepC folder was a magical place. Got me through horrible treatments and that time in my life.
Took a couple yrs to venture into the deep end(OS).
The majority of my current friends have Zoner ties.
Maxwell hooked me up with tabling shows for Organ Donor awareness. That was my life for a few yrs.
Well, I first found the site after seeing P&F 11-11-99, and searching for setlists online.
I'm not sure how long after I found the other section, and ultimately the Other Stuff folder.
It must've been sometime in 2000. I traded & B&P'd so much music around that period, the Zone was a huge blessing.
During the December 2004 Warfield run, we only had tickets to Sunday. Home on Friday night and lurking on the Zone, someone posted a link to a live audio stream from the show. I played it from the computer to the stereo, and followed comments on the Zone, and we experienced the show as it happened, sharing it live. Then again on Saturday, the Zone came through with the link, and we were "there". So when we went to the final show on Sunday, we felt that we had a sense of the full arc of that amazing weekend. Streams are so common now, but back then it was a big deal to us. Yay Zone and yay Zoners, the whole motley lot of ya!
I was just thinking about B&Ps yesterday, probably as a result of this thread, and it occurred to me that a lot of work went into doing those. Sure, the person sending the blanks paid for the CDs (or tapes back in the day), and for bubble wraps and the postage both ways, but the person providing the music had to put in some time burning the discs (or recording the tapes) and then getting the thing shipped back. Truly a labor of love.
Found the Trade Folder while looking for a copy of my first Phil show (9-27-03). I checked out OS about a year later and got sucked in by a thread entitled "Asshole of the Year" (I believe BrianK was at the center of the trolling on that one, lol, some things never change).

I remember that, Hall. Phil had come on and asked for vibes for some unknown person. I commented that it was lame for him to come on a fan board and do that. Someone thought I was an asshole for that, maybe Gitmo? Admin asked if I wanted the thread pulled, and I said to leave it be.
I remember seeing or hearing a notice on the birth of the Philzone a day or two before it launched and I jumped on board the next day. I was into taping/trading and spent my time there and then on the Hep-C after getting diagnosed. I never even looked at OS for years and then finally I ask someone about it. The response was "those people on Other Stuff are nuts". Pretty sure I traded with Bluesnote, Slickrock, Mark D, Thom, Judit and others I don't see around anymore. At some point there was a hack or crash and some people had to rejoin PZ. I changed my name several times to protect innocent bystanders and the guilty.
I was 44 years old when I joined PZ and 23 when I recorded my first show. 28 when I took my first bottle of whiskey to Willie the security guy at 4:30 am to get a stub to be first in line for the show. 45 when I saw my first P&F show in 99 at The Gorge. Last show was the Crystal Ballroom.
Can't recall the exact year, but I think it was 2K or 2001 when I started a thread in the West Coast section of the OOTS part of the PhilZone. Didn't venture into other parts of the Zone until a couple of years later.
