Playing for Change; Iko Iko

Forums:

<<We're happy to share our Song Around The World version of the New Orleans classic and Mardi Gras favorite, "Iko Iko." This song features Dr. John in one of his last known recordings, along with the Grateful Dead's Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, New Orleans' luminaries Ivan Neville, Donald Harrison, and George Porter, Jr., and more. Uniting musicians from Central Africa’s Congo to New Orleans’ Congo Square, this video serves to reconnect hearts and minds around the world through music. In loving memory of Dr. John (1941 -2019)>>

Bump for Iko.

I have to ask though: Can anyone hear Mickey in the mix?

Thanks so much for sharing this!  Wonderful!

And yes, I can hear Mickey, but only at the very end when all others have finished...

Happy Monday Morning.....Thanks, great way to start the week

Roberto Luti is my favorite living slide guitarist

Met Roberto more than 20 years ago at a hostel in New Orleans when he first came to town, then was a roommate with him for a short while after that when he was just busking, like around the turn of Y2k.  Looks like the Playing for Change thing has continued to bring him well-deserved success, and seeing him in these videos is always a fun surprise...

That was awesome. Danka

Got off work early 03ish. Walking home through the French Quarter and listening to Roberto's slide guitar echo off the buildings as I got closer past the other buskers on Royal Street

The person playing talking drum with the Bizung Family band is Mohammed Alidu. He lives near me when he is in Colorado. Super nice human and his Colorado family members are also sweet. Nice.
