Thank you again for the order you placed through Tribute Store in memory of Sarah Jackson.
This email is to let you know that your trees have been planted as part of a reforestation project taking place in Wisconsin’s Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. This project is being led by American Forests in partnership with local organizations.
In 2019, a record-breaking windstorm unleashed 100-mile-per-hour winds that shredded many mature trees and significantly battered others the area. In total, nearly 300,000 acres of the forest was partially damaged or flattened.
The reforestation efforts taking place will plant more than 232,000 seedlings to help restore wildlife habitats and the health of the forest. Among the seedlings being planted are White Cedars, which can live for over 1000 years. These plantings will increase the forest’s biodiversity and boost its resilience to wildfire, pests and drought, all of which are being exacerbated by climate change.
Thank you again for your purchase in honor of Sarah Jackson. Together, we’re helping to restore habitats like this one across North America.
Appreciate the report and the work you did to make this happen. Sarah would have been so happy today. Her Chicago Cubs pitched a no-hitter against the Dodgers yesterday.
> National forests are managed primarily for timber production
Primarily? Grazing and mining are really big in NFs too, not to mention recreation.
I'm doubtful that this kind of program would be allowed in national parks, which are protected much more than national forests. Seems like a private sanctuary would be best.

Invest in the millennium.
Invest in the millennium. Plant sequoias.
Say that your main crop is the forest
that you did not plant,
that you will not live to harvest.
Say that the leaves are harvested
when they have rotted into the mold.
Call that profit. Prophesy such returns.
R.I.P. Sarah

Pretty cool.
Pretty cool.
However, is there any assurance the trees will still be there in 30 years?
National forests are managed primarily for timber production. As in, logging.
