Trumpism While Camping -> Road Karma

So I'm at a nearby campground in PA close to The Pinnacle and Appalachian Trail, and my car battery dies at the bathhouse. I open the hood, connect my jumper cables, and proceed to ask the nice appearing family 20 feet away if they could help me out for a minute and jump my car.
NOPE.
There was a Ford pickup there, not connected to their camper, and another 'mercan car, maybe a Dodge, also noticed a "Don't Tread On Me" sticker on the truck. I asked directly then, "You can't spare a minute or drift you car 20 feet to help a fellow human being? Really?" They said "Our cars are in position and we're not moving them." "OK thanks a lot!" I reply. Position for what? Then the campground helper's truck pulls right up to my car and jumps me, and literally 1 minute later I drive past their site, window down, waving and thanking them profusely for their help. I guess there was always a divide between the hippie campers that like nature and the redneck campers that try to control nature. You know what I mean? But I never felt the outright social alienation as I did from this group, I was always able to get along and talk with almost anyone despite our differences.
I finish breaking camp a few hours later and as I'm on the highway a few miles from the campsite, the same group that would not budge to jump me was on the side of the road changing a driver side tire on their camper! Quick turnaround on the karma right there, thank you World!
That made my day! Sorry.

Sucks you had that experience, but the divide is really between nice people and assholes. There are plenty of good natured rednecks that would not have hesitated to give you a hand.

I don't like to wish bad on people but I did have a good hearty chuckle as I passed by and did not stop, they did have a crowd. Ken you are completely right and I hope that no matter what someone's upbringing, social or political views are that deep down, if you're a nice person you would help someone else in need. I do fear that newly empowered assholes have a large lemming community of like minded assholes that will support and back them up whether right or wrong. Instead shining inward and changing them for the better, the chagrin now emboldens them to fight harder against perceived threats.
