Anyone heading down from Oregon? I'd like to go, but not up for the long solo drive - the missus won't be going, and neither will I unless someone else is driving down.
i dont see anything about masks, does anyone know for sure whether these park events are mask/no mask? im really not trying to have a mask discussion in this thread, frankly im just trying to drop acid and dont want to do that in a mask
Surfdead if I were still in Oregon... paging Portland Ken.! ...then you two could scoop up Noodler and Judit and by the time you arrive to Berkeley there would be funny stories to share and I'll meet you for an Oregon Zoner reunion....
I'm waiting to get a clear title on the SUV my mom willed me, then I plan on heading down to Marin to deliver one of my folks Persian rugs that my sister doesn't want to my brother who lives down there. If that trip lines up with this show, I'd like to go, and will let you know if I can accomodate passengers.
There's also super cheap flights on Alaska right now.
We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance
And if they don't dance
Well, they're no friends of mine
Say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come
From out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance
Or sing
We can go when we want to
Night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat
From our hats to our feet
And surprise 'em with the victory cry
Say, we can act if we want to
If we don't, nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile
And say, we can dance, we can dance
Everything's out of control
We can dance, we can dance
They're doing it from pole to pole
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody's taking the chance
Safety dance
Oh well, the safety dance
Ah yes, the safety dance
We can dance if we want to
We've got all your life and mine
As long as we abuse it, never gonna lose it
Everything'll work out right
I say, we can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Because your friends don't dance
And if they don't dance
Well, they're no friends of mine
I say, we can dance, we can dance
Everything's out of control
We can dance, we can dance
We're doing it from pole to pole
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody's taking the chance
Oh well, the safety dance
Ah yes, the safety dance
Oh well, the safety dance
Oh well, the safety dance
Oh yes, the safety dance
Oh, the safety dance, yeah
Well, it's the safety dance
It's the safety dance
Well, it's the safety dance
Well, it's the safety dance
Oh, it's the safety dance
Oh, it's the safety dance
Not me. If I were going to go it would be largely to help you get there Surfdead, but sorry, not this time. What about Kesey B? Another Dedicated Maniac.
I'm in my usual (pre-Covid even) not enjoying crowds mode, Mark. Plus, and I know this is heresy to some, I like DNB, maybe my favorite current band, but not worth the travel these days. If William Apostol were playing at TXR without the banjo and mando players, I might go. Another factor is I don't trip at shows and so the only psychedelic hit I get is if the band is really on it getting really out there. I haven't heard that so many times recently. And, one more heretical thought is that I've heard the songs and the way they play them, and without the X-factor that I'm not feeling these days, well, it's not worth the travel.
Seeing some of you would be swell, but these days, not going.
>>>I'm expecting the TXR DNB to be canceled as well<<<
The TxR show is outside, it was just added and will be half sold at best.
I figure it will happen.
Personally, I've been going to quite a few ballgames, I was at the outdoor King Crimson show last week and the 49ers game on Saturday, and am scheduled to be at a couple of relatively low-attended outdoor events in large venues later this week.
I must admit to feeling nervous about these outside events right now, but I figure what the hell, I only have so many minutes left and I can't hide from everything forever, but at the moment I'm feeling VERY sketchy about indoor events.
Out of "an abundance of caution", I've skipped a couple of small indoor shows the past couple of weeks, and I have nothing scheduled indoors until the 3rd week of September, when I start a run of indoor shows I have tix for.
On one hand I think, "Be cautious, don't go." On the other hand, I fear COVID will be our constant invisible companion for a long time/from now on and at some point we're ALL going to be exposed to it, so I find myself asking...
How long can one cower from what is certain to eventually be the meeting with the Great Evil?
I'm in cor DNB and have no doubt it will happen. Freight and Salvage delayed their opening by a month. I have my doubts about indoor venues opening next month but we'll see...
I've been to half a dozen baseball games and shows at TXR. Haven't fel too concerned at outdoor events here in the Bay Area
Mark, I hope that you check out OK and feel better really soon.
My 13 year old had head cold symptoms for a week or so and I know a few others in the Bay Area who have been feeling sick and have tested negative for COVID-19.
Great show yesterday with a very jammed out first set, second set was shorter but sweet! Saw many familiar, friendly and happy faces. Good times in what seems to be the waning days of the TXR back yard.....
