45 minutes from the ocean lies a mountain called Mt Baldy, in the san Gabriel mountains of LOs Angeles. Sometimes it takes years but when it pukes snow like it has this year, this place is the best secret in the land.
they got a 5 foot dump last storm and the powder pigs were all over it.

mt waterman outside of Burbank, ca opened last week also. These ski areas bring you back in time before real estate development, vailification, and 150 lift tickets.
In the late 1950's my family shared a cabin on Mt. Baldy for a few years with other families. We did a lot of camping in Idyllwild, but this was a different terrain. We went in the winter a couple of times and once rode the chair lift, the only time I've ever ridden one. The summers were fun, too.
Hey Moving to, check out Nimbin. Thought of moving there myself.
Not sure one yrs precipitation nullifies so many yrs of drought. I really need to see the San Luis reservoir full this summer. Been many yrs since it was close to full, any time of yr.
