Milo Yiannopoulous' speech at UC-Berkeley canceled as protest turns violent
Increasingly violent protests at the University of California - Berkeley prompted officials to cancel a speech by conservative writer and activist Milo Yiannopoulous Wednesday night.
More than 1,500 people gathered in front of UC Berkeley's Sproul Hall to protest Yiannopoulous, a self-proclaimed "troll" and editor for the right-wing Breitbart News website who was banned from Twitter for a targeted campaign against Saturday Night Live actress Leslie Jones. Protesters held signs that read "Hate Speech Is Not Free Speech” and pledging to shut down the event.
Violence and chaos erupt at UC-Berkeley in protest against Milo Yiannopoulos
What began as a peaceful demonstration devolved as the night wore on. Protesters threw smoke bombs, knocked down barriers, set fires and started fights in the south campus area, police said.
Police announced a campus lockdown and ordered the crowd to disperse.

Assuming that all 1,500 protesters were UC students (I wouldn't), that is about 4% of the student population (I rounded up).
If there were about 300 violent protestors (I bet there were fewer than that), we've got about 0.7% of the student population.
I bet that there were a few people who were neither UC students, nor Berkeley residents.

Violent Protests Break Out on NYU Campus Over Gavin McInnes Seminar
Police arrested 11 people at a protest Thursday night at New York University where conservative actor and comedian Gavin McInnes was giving a seminar to College Republicans.
Fox News correspondent Julie Banderas joined "America's Newsroom" Friday to give an update from the scene.
Numerous fights took place outside the campus building where McInnes, the co-founder of Vice Media, was speaking.
The speech was cut short after the protesters eventually infiltrated the seminar, and McInnes said he was pepper sprayed during the scuffle.

Final count from campus
Final count from campus police was that approx 150 masked "anarchists" marched en masse into the crowd of students. They came with shields, bricks, bats, smoke bombs, etc and just began smashing stuff. The campus spent over a month trying to prepare for protests, but were simply outnumbered by the size of this group determined to do damage. If students were in that 150, no one knows that yet.

And Yiannopoulos manages to do this without a single one of the thugs spilling the beans and tipping off the fact that this violent criminal conspiracy is organized by Yiannopoulos, not his opponents.
