Any updates on TXR staying open or closing next month?

Looks like Stu is closing it down 10-30-21 (but I'll be at P&F-Cap).  Nothing on schedule in Nov or beyond.  See everyone for Melvin-JGB 10.15,16,17.  My finale...  <insert tears here>

So phil isn't even closing it down?  Won't even be there?

A little strange.

Nothing lasts.

Sad, because it ws a real community center for locals and travelers alike.

Being in San Rafael, it was kinda the last vestige of Dead-dom. Sweetwater just doesn't have the same vibe. The Cap certainly does not.

(I'm surprised the furniture isn't ending up in th Sotheby's auction.)

Stu Allen sat in that chair? I'll pay $3.50, put they have to pay shipping.

I have a hard time believing Phil won't play there at least one more time.

Possibly a last-minute announcement type thing.

(((The Closing Of Terrapin)))

Faced with mysteries dark and past

statements just seem vain at last

The furniture and kitchen stuff was removed and disposed of months ago. The restaurant has been empty for awhile.

Bring back the masonic hall

Or the seafood peddler

The pre-TXR "Buckle-up kids" graffiti will outlast the venue...

Sigh...

The Paul Simon thing looks interesting.

The tighter the buckle the shorter the ride

why are they closing? what happened?

uh, the pandemic?

i thought everything was open again, things seems mostly back to normal aside from some counties requiring masks...there was a post further up about the restaraunt being empty for awhile, is there still a ban on indoor dining with marin county or san rafeal? i thought they had started to reopen and were having shows again. i wasnt aware the restaurant had been closed for awhile, i just hadnt heard of anywhere left that still has no indoor dining and assumed it was open

Not true Woz. A couple of kitchen items were removed, everything else is still there.

Day of light

All the shows have been outside in the beach park

Time to start hunting for the location of the next West Coast Zoner Jam w/ Phil as headliner, LOL

>>>Not true Woz

hahaha, I knew that guy couldn't be trusted.

Maybe the Leshs are just over it. Running that kind of place seems like a 24/7/365 stressful energy drain.

I hope it remains a music venue, though the days of seeing mellow (uncrowded) DNB shows there are looong gone.

Nothin' shakin' on shakedown street

it used to be the heart of town

Not true Woz. A couple of kitchen items were removed, everything else is still there.

Must've been all piled in a corner because there were no tables in the bar area or anywhere I could spot from the merch counter.....hopefully someone takes the place over......

seafood peddler>terrapin crossroads>seafood peddler reprise?

Nah, the Peddler is thriving in Sausalito  these days.....

pretty weird to go to a show there and the whole restaurant scene is boarded up...

Ok, so: The word is that there is no word? No change, it’s closing for sure?

"for sure?"

Other than all the conjecture from outsiders, has anyone said anything offical "for sure"?

All we know for sure is that the lease for the park was not initially renewed and hasn't yet been, and Woz had some ideas of the place being bought to be turned into another auto dealership.

But I don't think any of that is for sure.

Still, there's a time & a place for everything, and even before COVID I figured after ten years Phil/Jill would be looking to let loose of the place sooner than later, but hopefully to someone that would keep it rolling as a restaurant/venue. I think the damned pandemic, which is continuing and will for a while longer, just brought the whole thing down.

But at least for the moment, who knows anything "for sure"?

We know there are no shows planned beyond October?

For sure

 I love/ ed that place

And  might be down for another ~250 visits

All we know for sure is that the lease for the park was not initially renewed and hasn't yet been, and Woz had some ideas of the place being bought to be turned into another auto dealership.

And that was a rumor I picked from nearby local businesses. Nobody knows anything "for sure" and the silence is deafening as the expression goes. I'm looking forward to Peter Rowan this Saturday!

Nothing lasts.

Never made it, the one time I was in the area Phil was playing my last night in but had a 7:00 AM flight.  Universe trolled me, we were delayed several times and did not depart SF until 4:30 PM.

Could've gone...

Oh well, it was fun watching the streams once in a while.

Well... There were a couple of canceled Grate Room shows right after Halloween, I think on November 2 and 3? It would not surprise me in the least if Phil comes back after Halloween, takes Nov 1 off for the travel, and then last minute announces final TXR shows on those dates — outdoors of course. I do NOT expect they would just let the doors close with nothing Phil does there again. I can’t imagine the final show there is Stu on October 30. Not that anything is wrong with Stu, but I just have to imagine Phil will close the place out. Last minute ticket dump as usual. I would keep my eyes peeled for it.

Hopefully not the TFB. The recent Colorado PLF lineup (was great!) could easily be reunited...

Coincidentally I just got home and was talking to my neighbor who is a local attorney and shared he just heard that the Lexus dealership up the street is taking over the lease for the property TXR sits on. Take it FWIW....

A few minutes ago i happened to be driving by Terrapin, BLASTING the Don't Let Go from JGB Painters Mill '81, (thanks Alan),

when I realized I was cruising past a CHP car. Thankfully he didn't pull me over.

Whoops!

That Painter's Mill Don't Let Go will do that kind of thing to ya!

Reminds me I need to give that a spin!

Rumor I heard is the building is in too much disrepair from the ground beneath it sinking. FWIW. Rumor. Whatever.

I've heard the same. Add in the fact that the property is situated on a waterway makes repairs are a regulatory night mare as it involves both state and federal clean water acts etc.

2nd Act. I could see Jill and Phil doing a food truck together. Korean tacos perhaps.

Everything points to TXR being done. But I still expect Phil will close it out, shortly after Halloween.

>>>Hopefully not the TFB<<<

It's good to know that whatever happens, some things will never change.

Phil shouldn't play with them, he should play with THEM! NO! Phil should play with THEM!!! No, no, NO, Phil can't play with them, he MUST play with THEM!!!!!!

Tired.

I also have to believe that Phil/Jill will want to do a goodbye to the place they invested so much time and effort into, and where they had so much success.

Unfortunately, the Grate Room is such a petrie dish I don't see anything happening in there, but I could see a house party in the empty restaurant as a good way to say fare thee well.

So many good times have been had at that place, there just has to be a proper goodbye.

May hit Rowan today, where's the best bar to watch the Giants game in San Rafael?

Go Giants...

^Hope to see you, Woz, and others.

And: GO GIANTS!

I'll be there in the ADA section as I'm recovering from a recent knee joint replacement.

WALSTIB, Marin Brewing Company or the Flat Iron in San Rafael are great places to watch the Giants Game.

Woz Thanks for the intel. just got a tix to the shoe!

hope the "Blue" Angels"  don't strafe our car leaving the city on the GGB...

Go Giants!

Best Peter Rowan show I've seen in years!

^^^ Does that mean Bobby did or did not show up this time?

^What Woz said!

Fantastic show!

I was on the fence earlier today and I'm so glad that I landed on the "GTTS" side.

My man Johnny D "skudebro" was on the scene and got it for sure today!
