My business line at the office has had 17 reports of static in the last 14 months.
They have sent over countless un qualified morons to tinker with the wires and it works good for 3 to 4 weeks then it starts again. They dug a huge hole for a week and pulled new wire almost a half of a mile away. Worked well for almost 2 months. Now again it sound like I am talking on a cell phone on the interstate driving 70 MPH with the windows open.
I call repair center and you bounce around and get hung up on and it always takes an hour to talk to a mouth full of shit representative who "understands my situation" but does little to help.
I am not going to even go into the hassles and bullshit of what it even took to move this existing line from one location to the other 14 months ago.
I tell you this country IS READY for a revolution. Little people vs Big business.
Ditched my land-line several months ago. "Straight Talk Home Phone" replaced it -- standard telephones attach to the adaptor box which you aim at your nearest cel tower. Fifteen a month unlimited USA long distance. It has call forwarding, voice mail, three-way calling, all the features that land-line had. The box costs $50. Decent vocal quality, big savings, and I got to port my old # over.
If you already have fast internet in the office, there are numerous VOIP solutions out there at better cost than land-line.
I am so happy that I don't have to give Verizon $$ every month
Yeah, they suck. Cell phones are the biggest fucking rip off. Now that the banks got involved with financing phones that are being sold for for 900$ (when it only cost a dollar to make them) it's a big cash grab for everybody.
I guess if you have some wives and kids the T-mobile quadruple line plan makes sense. I do have a prepaid cel fone which has unltd. talk, text data for 35 bucks per month. The actual Adenoid device was 35 or 40 bucks, so no huge payments to make.
Between it and the cheap home fone line I'm still paying less than the old land-line, plus I can watch old "Gong Show" episodes while driving in rush-hour traffic.
For me, the only justification for having the "twisted-pair" landline again would be to exploit some of that excess amperage for hobbyist projects. I forget if it's 11-14 volts and definitely low wattage, but if you had an extra fone jack in the house, you could run some LED mood-lighting or trickle charge the spare tractor batteries.
Theoretically of course. It might make your Princess fone ring improperly, or create a disturbance in the local force-field.
In theory, if you were to dissect the fone-cable that comes off the pole, inside you'd likely find a blue wire, an orange wire, and the same colours striped with white. Using a basic multi-meter, you could theoretically measure the voltage from any set of two out of those four.
They sent out a tech today and determined they need to dig another massive hole and pull new wire again.
They did the same thing a few months ago.......over a week of work and about 6 different techs.....closed the driveway to my shop....left a huge mess........
Always remember that the Dilbert cartoon was inspired by the management team that currently runs AT&T. One of those companies I will never do business with.

Honest, sincere suggestion: invest in AT&T stock.
Around $41/share, paying a 4.75% dividend. Then when they gouge people, you will benefit. :)

I'm seeing about 60-70 bucks-per Month savings these days, which might not be significant for the wealthy, but makes me Happy.
Also, that $$ does not get sent to a loathesome corporation each month.
Covers my Dog Food bill, which benefits Society.

tmobile "all in" is pretty good.
4 lines unlimited everything for 160 and you can add all the lines you like for 20.00 each with unlimited data, messaging etc
so 10 phones unlimited everything would be 280 tax and fees included.
