In the spirit of accuracy, I believe that was yesterday.
And I wasn't there, but I was just about five miles away that day.
It was an interesting & historical event, as it helped to create the national image & concept of the "Summer of Love" in San Francisco, which of course basically destroyed what was left of the little scene that had been happening in the Haight for two or three years prior.
This is a long but pretty interesting document of that day. Too bad it's in black & white, but it's a good record of the event.
The viral event that inspired an entire legion of freedom seeking freeks and a motley assortment of burnouts and weirdos to go to San Francisco and wear flowers in their hair.
Yea, well, you are right-accuracy counts and itr was yesterday the 14th but I read the article today.....Some have said it was the beginning, of the beginning of the end of the Haight
interesting that lsd was made federally illegal in Oct. '66. 3 short months later at the Be-In and America's youth were strictly abiding by the crushing news new mandate.
there's some crazy stuff later in the folk. If you go about a half hour in, the footage changes to color, and there lots of glimpses of the Dead playing, i picked up snippets of Dancin and Viola Lee later on. I wonder who the blond kid is waving the flag on the stage?
