NBA trade deadline

Forums:

James Harden is a sixer.

Will he quit on them too?

Ben Simmons is going to get booed back to Australia in Brooklyn.

Good move by the Sixers.  They just became the favorites in the East.

Hard to see Simmons and Kyrie Irving working as a backcourt tandem.

Nets listing Simmons as a forward.

Wizards get Porzingis. But give up Dinwiddie and Bertans

Sixers need to sign a backup 5.

They should make a deal with the Wizards for Montrezl Harrell.

Are the Lakers really just going to stand pat today while the team is visiting a vineyard in Napa County?

Harrell went to Charlotte for Ish Smith and  Vernon Carey Jr.

A steal for Charlotte.  The Sixers dropped the ball on that one.

fuck the lakers front office. what a shit show. fucked over jerry west and tons of crap moves. just trash.

hey bay area, time to care about the warriors again....

and please don't give me john wall.

Looks like the Wizards traded half their team. The Porzingus deal will finally convince Beal to leave instead of resigning. Beal has been very loyal to the Wizard all for nothing, but the cash of course

LeBron is the Lakers front office, should unload him

pretty sure he didn't want to deal caruso....shit the kid even said that HE WOULD TAKE LESS TO STAY!!!

should have dealt AD for a bag of chips and a 6 pack.

>>>fucked over jerry west<<<

Yeah, that was some bizarre shit there.

If you believe in karma or curses, the Lakers are gonna' pay for that petty move.

And the Bay Area always cares about the Warriors. If they can get all their guys on the court at the same time it should be an interesting post-season for them.

But damn, Phoenix is good.

I think the Magic have had like 30 guys on their roster this year and the best young talent Fultz, Jonathan Isaac have not even played. Wagner and Suggs both look like good pick ups in the draft, and Cole Anthony can put up points. Problem is they are all point guards and small forwards so some will be moved. Mo Bomba sucks and I do not see him being resigned

I ain't been payin attention, too busy watching olympics + college hoops.

But speaking of fuck da Lakers, did the Celtics make any moves ?

Ive really been liking the progression of Russel Westbrook's atomic level meltdown, and the destruction he's reaped on this storied franchise.  Takes no accountability whatsoever and blames Vogel for not playing him, while he plays ZERO defense and fumbles and shoots balls off the side of the backboard.  At the end of the day Westbrook could care less about his teammates, because chasing stats and getting triple doubles have always been more important to him then the team and winning. It's all about Russ all of the time.

AD is fragile and gives up when things aren't going his way. Zero rebounding and got crushed by Giannis a couple days ago, and taken to the cleaners by Nurkic in Portland last night. As James Worthy put it, "The loss last night at Portland may be one of the worst losses in Lakers history.  An absolute dejecting embarassment."  And apparently the front office is now being run by Kurt Rambis and his wife. LOL, Lastly, Lebron destroyed any mention of him in the GOAT conversation moving forward after assembling "his team" and being at the center of this team that's lost 11 out of its last 16 games,  The Lakers have never been in a situation this bad, and it will only get worse as they have one of the most difficult schedules in the league moving forward.

Super pumped to see Joel (MVP) Embiid get some winning pieces to make a run during his fantastic year. Interested to see him and Harden play in the pick and role together. I predict a reinvigorated Harden will play like his Houston day's in Philly, and make a deep run in the playoffs.  Maybe even facing Brooklyn in the Eastern finals.

On another note, WTF is wrong with Dame Lillard? The Blazer's (who look like a YMCA pick up team) don't give two shits about him, but he still stays loyal to the team and city.  He needs to get the fuck up out of there unless he doesn't care about winning and legacy. From purely a business perspective, he's making some real bad decisions or have the wrong people in his ear. Portland aint got nothing for you Dame except some scrubs!

Portland Trailblazers totally blew up the team, with a lot of grumpiness over what we got back...   but we're under the cap now, with even more guards than ever, lol...   bring on the tank, curious what'll happen this summer, get the feeling new GM Cronin is just getting started...

Barkley commenting on James Harden's hamstring injury...

"He got traded, he healthy now "

i like to poke gsw lance, you know that. they prolly be in the finals. or meet phx in the conf. speaking of which, monte williams, now that is a good coach. how come he can use post players in the post and almost no other team does or can?

seems many laker picks, kuz, randall, ingram, are all flourishing.....impatience kills....

and jr is right, westbrook can't or won't guard my gramma...

You all better look out for the Kings Sabonis era. I like our chances more than the Lakers at least.

I don't see Simmons and the NY media market being a good fit. That said is there a way to buy stock in Philadelphia strip clubs?

^I don't see Simmons and the NY media market being a good

I'm going to start listening to Mike Francesa's podcast. It will be brutal.

Love that Harrell and Rozier are reunited.  Could be good for both.

Turtle said it.  Lakers dropped the mf ball.  I'm sure they tried but they've backed themselves in the corner. Should have gotten Hield instead of Westbrook when they could have but it's easy to play Monday Morning Quarterback.

Sixers gave up too much.  Two first round picks, key support players, Simmons, all for an old grumpy man in decline.

>>>Phoenix is good.

If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on them.....but best record doesn't translate in the post-season.

Gave up too much?

Curry is a defensive liability, in that game 7 against the hawks he made kevin huerter look like larry bird.

Drummond is a backup on a one year deal, and would have played 5-8 minutes per game in the playoffs.

The picks are mid first round at best.

Simmons had played 0 minutes this year.

They kept both Maxey and Thybulle

Harden 22/8/10 this year, 37 minutes per game.

I disagree with your assessment.

Curry is 31 has one year left on deal

Drummond is 28 one year deal.

Harden 32 player option

Plus the Sixers got what's left of Paul Millsap

They'll have a shit deal with Harden.   If they don't win immediately he'll pout like the last two places.   I'd love to see the sixers win but it's a lot.

>>>>Curry is a defensive liability, in that game 7 against the hawks he made kevin huerter look like larry bird.

Literally laughed out loud on that one.

It seems that the trade could work out for both teams.

If I understand correctly, Simmons is a great defender and passer but is afraid to shoot and can't make free throws, but if Durant is healthy and NY eases up on the COVID restrictions and Irving can play every game then they don't need Simmons to score and he should fit in pretty well, plus they added a couple of role players off the bench.

And the 76ers gave up a player who was never going to play for them, so they got a potential superstar for a couple of bench players & picks. But Harden is a bit of a ball-hog. Will that mesh or clash with Embiid? If it meshes then the eastern playoffs should be very interesting, with quite a few teams all very good.

>Portland Trailblazers totally blew up the team...<

CJ McCollum's letter to Portland...

https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/cj-mccollum-portland-trail-blaze...

I agree with your assessment, Lance, except....

"But Harden is a bit of a ball-hog"

The last three seasons he has averaged more than 10 assists per game.

Let's go Sixers! finely the process of taking out the trash. Curry, Harden, Jokic, and Luca are my favorite players to watch. Harden is gonna dominate with Embid

^thoughts on a backup 5, fabes?

Maybe a backup 1?

Dragić would be great, but read he is likely to sign with the Mavs. DJ Augustin is out there. Schroder might become available.

Freedom was waived. Thompson might become available

Anybody else out there?

That CJ letter is all class.

^sure is.

Zang, same questions i posed to fabes... thoughts

I like DJ Augustine, sound player good teammate from what I seen in Orlando

No back up Cs worth a shit are out there from what I see. Small ball and let Harden do what Harden does, Milsap hopefully can supply some muscle for a few minutes at a time, and Harris is another power guy too.

Let's see how Simmons is at the small forward position. Kyrie coming down the court with Simmons and Durant on the wings, ohhhh

Derek Cousins is buried on the Nuggets bench.  If Denver cuts him loose, he might be a fit in Philly.  There is also Jay Huff, the 7' 1" ex-UVA big man that the Lakers have on a 2-way contract.  He's young and raw, but could probably cover the 5--10 minutes a night needed  to give Embiid a blow.  Blocks a lot of shots and is well-schooled by Tony Bennett in defense.  Don't know if he will be available as a buy-out though.

Cousins would be interesting, but don't think it will happen

>There is also Jay Huff, the 7' 1" ex-UVA big man that the Lakers have on a 2-way contract. He's young and raw, but could probably cover the 5--10 minutes a night needed to give Embiid a blow<

They already have young and raw covered with charles bassey and paul reed.

Agree on Cousins. Doubt  Denver will buy him out

Not sure who I'd pick as backup center.  Not much available.  Agree with Fabes to go small and add speed and 3pt shooting just to mix it up.

Shroeder is a wild card but if he's available I'd pick him up.   If he's having a good night it's worth having on the bench.

Now that Durant is showing signs of being injury prone I need to mention one player that will be challenging Luka for years in the league MVP voting , Ja Morant. I have not seen many of his games but from what I have seen and looking at his stats, he is the best player in the NBA, but Curry will win MVP. He also did not need to go find a super team as is the trend, or be part of a process, he led the players he was dealt, and turned them into winners. I will be watching this guy, even though my sports watching has been in decline.

Last night.

40/14/10 ...Embiid

Thybulle 6 steals.

Like I wrote, the Sixers keeping Maxey and Thybulle is huge. Morey did well.

Saw this...

11harden.jpg

Tacko Falls is your other option.  Cousin is spent but is a big body.  Tacko gives you height to just mess with people.

I don't see how Embiid doesn't win MVP with all the press support but we will see.

ja morant is the shit.

Has been for a while

>>>but Curry will win MVP<<<

Curry isn't winning the MVP this year, not the way he's been playing.

>>>He also did not need to go find a super team as is the trend<<<

Not sure who you're talking about here. Morant? Isn't this only his third year in the league? There's plenty of time for him to make that fair choice later in his career if his team/organization is always the brides-maid and he gets tired of wasting his generational talent always finishing 2nd.

I was sad to lose Drummond tho

(((((JoJo>>>MVP)))))

Boogie had 12 solid minutes vs. the Magic last night

another big buyout option is Robin Lopez, I think either one of these guys might be a good back up in Philly

>Not sure who you're talking about here. Morant? Wasting his talent for second place? Ever hear of the Max Deal in the NBA? He has lead his team to the third best record in the league this year, and has improved in win total each of his years there, and is CRUSHING that win total this year

^lopez certainly fits, but I'm thinking he could joins his brother in Milwaukee.

So if the sixers somehow win this year, is the "process" a success?

Gotta say they looked solid in only one game.  Too small of a sample but seemed to be firing on all cylinders.

^yes. No "process", no Embiid, no Simmons for the trade, no mike muscala.

It was fun to watch.  Harden makes everyone better. Maxey looked good at the 2. Harris went 2-9, missed open looks. The playoffs should be interesting.

The Nets and 76ers will meet at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Thursday, March 10. If Ben Simmons has the balls to show his face, those fans will roast him on a spit. Allot of people including players think he lied about his mental health issues, so he could continue to get paid.

On a positive note, I have an intuition the Embiid & Harden combo might be dynamic,

Seems to me like we have a core four at the top.   Sixers, Nets (if healthy), Suns and Dubs.

Bucks - if you can't beat a KD-less nets team at home....out.  Jazz - postseason paperweights.  Heat and Bulls - won't be able to compete with the upgraded Sixers and Nets

Can the Nets gel fast enough once they have all the players on the court is the biggest question as they are th most loaded?

Should be a fun few months.

>>>>those fans will roast him on a spit.

Shit, they roast their favorite players on a spit.    No one is tougher on their players than philly.   But sure, they'll give him lots of love.   I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up switching to a west coast team when given the opportunity.

^i wouldn't count out the Bucks just yet. It was just a regular season loss. The playoffs are different, but you already know that.

Still surprised that the heat didn't make any moves at the deadline.

I think the bulls are a paper tiger.

Emotions are running high among sixer fans. It's unfortunate that Simmons is experiencing back tightness, and will likely miss the march 10 game.

^^^Simmons is experiencing back tightness^^^

How does a spoiled brat weasel with no spine experience back tightness??  crying  crying

Pat Connaughton's injury the day after they dealt DeVincenzo was unfortunate timing for the Bucks, who are now short on wing players and have a thin bench.  I don't see them overcoming these shortcomings.

Atlanta is starting to click, and had a great run in the play-offs last year.  I'd keep new an eye on them.

ingram and McCollum are crushing it in New Orleans right now.  If Zion Williamson ever gets back on the court, that could be a fierce power trio.

Don't overlook the Grizzlies.  They have given the Warriors fits and can go toe to toe with anyone.

I do not think we have seen all of what the Warriors will be bringing come playoff time. Look Out

sixers vs. warriors in finals

Luka and Morant tearin shit up!

>How does a spoiled brat weasel with no spine experience back tightness??

good stuff

Where do the lakers go from here?.....another off-season overhaul.    Only choice.

They have to get rid of Davis, Westbrook, Carmelo, and LeBron

or get stuck with Bronny too

The Lakers are irrelevant.

The Lakers are always relevant, just like the Celtics. History and the ability to bounce back is why they are there

<<Pat Connaughton's injury the day after they dealt DeVincenzo was unfortunate timing for the Bucks, who are now short on wing players and have a thin bench.

Just for a little clarification, Pat Connignton is a scrub, who had very little impact on the Bucks or the outcomes of their games. Same thing for DeVincenzo. Dirty little Grayson Allen is just as good or better than both of them.

<<If Zion Williamson ever gets back on the court, that could be a fierce power trio.

Greg Oden 2.0.  Zion will come down as the biggest bust in NBA history.

If anyone is wondering why the lakers are so bad - they are being led by Kurt Rambis, his wife, and Rob Pelinka. And Frank Vogel has always been a limp dick.

Any other clarifications that need to be made?

chick hearn is rolling in his grave.

the mustard is off the hotdog.

>>>Dirty little Grayson Allen

That guy.

You may be right calling DeVincenzo a scrub, JR, but he was all the Bucks had if Connaughton went down.  Have to disagree strongly with your assessment of Connaghton.  He's been a big part of their rotation all year, and has been a significant contributor.

>>>I do not think we have seen all of what the Warriors will be bringing come playoff time<<<

If they're fully healthy when the playoffs start they will be tough to beat four out of seven, but right now that's a BIG 'if'.

They don't stand a chance if Draymond can't come back, and Iguodala is also very important to their playoff rotation, and neither of those guys has played in weeks, with the team continuing to be very vague about when either will be back.

Green's issue is his back, which is never good, but they didn't add a big man to cover for his absence so folks around here are thinking that the organization is confident that he'll be OK when it's time to get serious, and if the playoffs started next week he'd be playing now. It makes sense that they're more concerned with being fresh & healthy for the physical playoff grind than with finishing with the top or even the 2nd seed, so they're holding both those guys back until the ramp-up for the playoffs.

One thing for sure, if Green can't play or can't play his best, the Warriors will be lucky to win one series.

But, if he's rested and ready to jam and all their other guys are healthy, the playoffs should be pretty entertaining.

GW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morant, unbelievable game last night

I was sad to lose Drummond tho>>>

Per Espn, De Andre Jordan has been cut loose by the Lakers & the Sixers are 1st in line for him.

<<chick hearn is rolling in his grave.

It will be interesting to see how Lebald and the rest of the team reacts to the inevitable booing now at every game...

Westbrook has said time and time again that he doesn't care about winning and the boos don't bother him because he has a wife and kid's at home. He obviously has a hard time taking responsibility for anything.  Jeannie will send him packing after the season but only will get pennies on the dollars for his $43M contract. Can anyone remember another 1st ballot hall of famer with lower b-ball IQ who has been this big of a cancer for his team? Westbrook's legacy will be of a stat machine who never cared about winning or his teammates, and of course never won a championship.

One positive is my boy Austin Reeves, who has shown high IQ and will have a long career in the league no matter where he plays.

Miami is playing well.

Just read that Ben Simmons will be on the bench for the Nets/Sixers game this Thurs. He's still not ready to play, but will be in attendance.

Sixer fans boo Simmons at team hotel...

https://ftw.usatoday.com/2022/03/sixers-fans-boo-ben-simmons-nets-hotel-...

Should be fun tonight.

It was almost as if Harden didn't show up tonight.

Sixers 32% from the field.

Markel Fultz is looking reeeaal good in his return from injury. Cannot wait until he is playing full minutes

Gregg Popovich, now the winningest NBA coach of all time.

In my limited knowledge, he's just about everything one would want in a coach. The guy is a curmudgeon, but with heart and class, a great teacher and clearly a great coach.

His self-described coaching philosophy...

"Draft Tim Duncan. After that, stay alive."

He's done far more than that.

Good for you coach.

^First he had to fire Bob Hill, who tanked the season in order to draft Duncan.

Boogie is coming to life for the Nugs

Suns not missing CP3

Warrior waring on, watch them young bucks pitch in

Memphis winning even when Morant sits out

sneaky fucks the Jazz are in the bushes as always

the East Coast grinders might not be able to keep up, we will see if defense wins titles this year.  I loved the ABA and what they brought to the league, coupled with Bird vs. Johnson set the course to the modern day juggernaut that the league has become, run n gun

great season, playoffs will be off the hook
