Israel Retroactively Legalizes Settlements

Forums:

I'm not sure Israel actually believes in a two state solution or wants peace.

Israel’s Parliament passed a provocative law late Monday that would retroactively legalize Jewish settlements on privately owned Palestinian land, pressing ahead with a statement of right-wing assertiveness despite the likelihood that the country’s high court will nullify the legislation.

It was a defining — opponents said frightening — moment in Israel’s ever-more-distant relations with Palestinians and amid fading hopes of ending decades of conflict through a two-state solution.

geez.. horrible

Most Israeli people do want a 2 state solution and peace -  I support Israel, not Bibi's agenda which is as senseless as Trump's - well not that bad in comparisons. They both suck.

The Israeli Supreme Court will hopefully overturn it because the people affected didn't have a vote.

The far right douchebags in Israel have been emboldened by Trump. He's a friend to racists everywhere.

what Nancy & Brian said ....

sigh

Why don't they march?

we should build some of them settlements in northern mexico/baja. just move in and shoot people that argue.

We'll build a fence and call it a wall. They built a wall and call it a fence.

Boom on slacker.

Never said any of it is right. But to make it look like the Palestinians are angels is BS. Israel isn't going away, like it or not, so instead of the propaganda, how about a VIABLE solution? I've given many over the years here, but other than getting rid of Israel altogether, I've yet to really hear one from others. C'mon, Floops, you can do better than jumping on the rhetoric bandwagon.

Oh yeah, here's the Palestinian Charter. Do they want peaceful coexistence? Do you think that if they could kill tons more that they wouldn't?

Article 9: Armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine. Thus it is the overall strategy, not merely a tactical phase. The Palestinian Arab people assert their absolute determination and firm resolution to continue their armed struggle and to work for an armed popular revolution for the liberation of their country and their return to it. They also assert their right to normal life in Palestine and to exercise their right to self-determination and sovereignty over it.

Article 10: Commando action constitutes the nucleus of the Palestinian popular liberation war. This requires its escalation, comprehensiveness, and the mobilization of all the Palestinian popular and educational efforts and their organization and involvement in the armed Palestinian revolution. It also requires the achieving of unity for the national (watani) struggle among the different groupings of the Palestinian people, and between the Palestinian people and the Arab masses, so as to secure the continuation of the revolution, its escalation, and victory.

Palestinian children killed

 >>>>>Do they want peaceful coexistence?

You can't have that if you are being treated as the Palestinians have been. I'm against terrorism by either side, including Palestinian rocket attacks against civilians, but the Palestinians are justified in any sort of armed resistance short of that.

Intelligent discourse?

there is no partner for peace. Until there is, Israel will take necessary means to protect itself and its citizens.

Sure I can, when I have time.

But this issue is easy: the Israeli government keeps the Palestinian people in a sort of reservation/prison, and it's wrong and they should stop it now.

The American government supports the arrangement, and it's wrong and they should stop it now.

The Palestinian people must have their own State.

How is stealing land protecting yourself? In no way is it a defensive measure.

Ender nails it.

And what does the Palestinian side have to do? Is it okay to continue teaching children the destruction of Israel, and to have armed conflict with Israel  written in their Constitution?

Your solution paints the Palestinians as being lambs for the slaughter, which we all know isn't the case.

I've seen that "fence," and it's fucked up. I've been on the Israeli controlled highway, with the "fence" on either side, and it's fucked up. I've seen the Israeli farms in the desert, in what should be Palestinian land along-side the Jordan, and it's fucked up. There's no doubt about it.

I've also heard the call to prayer from minarets, in Tel Aviv, and shopped at Palestinian owned stores. I've seen the crazy amount of new buildings and construction in the West Bank, and the green Palestinian license plates in Israel proper. Tel Aviv is one of the top gay-friendly cities in the world. Go 8 miles away, behind the fence, and you get killed for being gay. The whole thing is whacked.

Here's a close-up of the "fence." Yeah, it's fucked up.

The Knesset's ruling that Israel can annex privately held Palestinian land is not only wrong, it's morally bankrupt and downright racist. Like I said, dirtbags everywhere have been emboldened by Trump. His choice of ambassador to Israel is a slap in the face to the peace process and a true 2 state solution.
