Doesn't know the last name of his Sax player!?

>>>Doesn't know the last name of his Sax player!?<<<

Not really "his" sax player, more the sax player sitting in with him tonight.

Right now Phil is bringing Terrapin Crossroads on the road, where every night is a different band, where many of the players don't know each other well, or at all, and with very little to no rehearsal. Phil likely met that sax player two or three hours before they went on stage. At this stage of his career he's not going to remember everyone's name.

In these one-off settings there will be flat parts, there will be flubs, there will be mediocre stretches, but there will also be inspired moments, and those moments are even more inspired because they are truly "in the moment", without rehearsal, without great knowledge of each other's styles.

There is good & not so good to that type of setup, but this is what our leader is bringing, and just like all those times at our good ol' clubhouse in San Rafael, the good moments are far outweighing the not so good ones.

And that's far out.

LLPL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

https://archive.org/details/paf2022-07-04.fob-dpa4011.buzzeo.157366.flac...  1st recording went up yesterday, checked after I saw Dawes on CBS this morning

Dawes celebrated the release of their studio album, "Misadventures Of Doomscroller," with a historic performance on CBS Saturday Morning. The band took the stage on the program and performance their epic 10 minutes and five seconds long track "Someone Else's Cafe / Doomscroller Tries to Relax" which marked the longest live performance of a single song in US TV history. The album was produced by longtime collaborator Jonathan Wilson (Billy Strings, Father John Misty, Angel Olsen). Watch the CBS Saturday Morning performance below:
