In and Out of the Garden: MSG 81-83

Is "Pangent" the new term for a polished turd?

I was 6/6 on these shows.  Had a great time with a variety of good friends.

But I ain't dropping $180 on this.

No spot taken, but will satisfy the crowd that's always clamoring for more early 80s releases

Time to tell your tale Bluesnote....

a nod to MSGman...

RIP Howie

I recall the ecstatic crowd reaction to St.Stephen on 10-11-83...

Yes, and the great Throwing>Touch that followed.  I have always loved that show.

I attended all 6 of those shows, YES!

Vinyl or no sale. Sorry. I bought the Dave's picks that was htfd. That's it

LosslessLegs shoutbox.

07/13 12:07 gems : 43 is 2.5% fast per knowledgeable ears
07/13 12:09 gems : At least the 81 is...
07/13 12:24 Charlie Miller : I agree re: 2.5% fast
07/13 13:35 Charlie Miller : 3/9/81 is 2.5% off
07/13 15:44 azphil : When you say they are 2 - 2.5% "off", can that be either fast or slow? Maybe it's fast so they can fit stuff on fewer discs!
07/13 15:45 Charlie Miller : fast

^ so the Dead Co MSG box set equivalent would be like 30 CDs?

But I ain't dropping $180 on this.  <<<<<<

yes - too much greed here. How about  offering 2 shows of your choice  (or more) instead.

Those 83's look tempting.

Not impressed with this selection. One of the few releases I won't spring for. IMHO, the 3/10/81 show is the only excellent one. Particularly liked the Satisfaction>Brokedown encore. And I was at all. Not worth the price. Still so much other better stuff they could be choosing. Now DP43 is another story. Love me some Pig and Dark Stars.

>>Vinyl or no sale<<

17 CD's at ~75 min run time each

equals

21.25 hours of listening

or

31 x 2 sided 33 RPM records at 21 minutes per side

considering there's already a TON of record flips involved just to get through a single vinyl show

and with zero chance these would be all analog and 100% chance they would be cut from the exact same (digital) masters as the CD's are

Even if they were half speed or 45 RPM (which would be more like 50 vinyls) or 200 grams or whatever the kids are clamoring for this week

This would literally be a crate full of record$ which still couldn't (possibly) be sonically superior to the CD version anyhow

plus shipping

and minus all the headaches when a decent portion of the records inevitably arrive with some kind of errors or damage or both, to boot

or am i wrong?

I bit the Bullet a grabbed this, I was at all those shows and have masters too.  Nothing like the Early Garden shows!!!  Wonder why the 79 shows are not in this too....

'79 has 2 in January & 3 more in September, enough for another whole release, if they're in the vault.

Cmon $180.00 is a tank of gas in So. Cal.

3/9/81 is a stone classic. Can’t spring for the whole set though. The other shows in there are just okay to me.

i just wish coyotte would release those masters

he seems to have a lot of unreleased backstock
