Jeff “Skunk” Baxter

Forums:

I went to Sweetwater last night to see Jeff Skunk Baxter, and it was an excellent unexpected night out. I wasn't aware he was playing and he delivered a two hour set that showcased his amazing guitar chops. Baxter performed his entire new album which was excellent  along with a few choice Steely Dan tunes and a rollicking China Grove encore. The band is composed of top notch session guys and man they were tight. They are at Yoshi's in Oakland tonight and them a few SoCal gigs. If he's playing near you GTTS!

Who's taking care of our missile defense systems when he's on road? This would be a perfect time for the Ruskies to launch an attack.

He had enough guitar effect pedals that I suspect at least one was wired into NORAD

Interesting goatee he's sporting.  How does he eat?

Just keep him away from the congos and everything will be just fine

That face fuzz is straight out of Dr. Suess.

Great player but his stock went down with me after learning Elliott Randall played the solo on Reelin' In The Years, not him.

For years I thought it was skunk who ripped that gem.

I Use To Deliver Marias Italian Kitchen Food To His House in Mandeville Canyon all the time ! and Yes His House Always Smelled Like SKUNK. Cool Guy to Me

But he rips that solo on Rikki Don't Lose that Number......

Doh, what was I thinking,  stock back up there

Dude has played every living room in America

Played on at least half dozen steely Dan albums

hoyt axton

stray cats

Nils lofgren doobies rod the mod gene clark Linda ronstadt....

also produced that horrific Bobby & the Midnights joint

I put on Pretzel Logic this morning. I forgot what a gem it is.......

Bob Minkin posted short sweet video from last night at Sweetwater

He was standing next ti me LOL!

Bob's video is so close to the same angle as your shot above.

I had a sorta good time in Norwalk when he was there. My wife got a NARC vibe from him. I was like , but he was in Steely Dan and the MF Doobies!
His phone rang during one of his talks. The ring tone was some kind of military march song (like Halls of Montezuma but not that ) It was sorta chilling, this was near start of Ukrainian/Russia war.

Baxter's tie matches the color of Trump's piss-colored hair.

No surprise Kid Roc + Mike Love are on the trump train, but skunk too ? Say it ain't so.

His stock just crashed.

Before I forget again, that is one hell of a great shot woz.

He has the chops.  I remember sometime in the 80s--may 83 or 84, he came out at the Capitol Theater in Passaic and sat in with Bobby and the Midnights--on keys, so he goes back way before that even with Weir.

Thanks raz!

Just bought the book "The Tour" by the late-Bill Staines from his website. A GREAT artist and a great read. Lots of early folkie stuff.

And what did I read this morning?  Baxter played on Bill Staines first album.

Interesting goatee he's sporting<<<
