News of the Weird - and Stupid

What do you title a thread as weird and stupid as this? True story. https://www.fox13now.com/news/local-news/wildfire-burning-on-utah-county...

SPRINGVILLE, Utah — A wildfire broke out near the border of Provo and Springville Monday afternoon, and is currently 60 acres and 10% contained as of Tuesday morning.

A suspect was arrested for allegedly starting the fire. Arrest documents identify the man as 26-year-old Draper resident Cory Allan Martin. He now faces various charges including Reckless Burning.

Provo Fire & Rescue, which assisted the Springville Fire Department along with other local agencies, said the fire was first reported around 4:30 p.m.

Court documents state that Martin had found a spider on the mountain and was trying to burn the spider with a lighter. After he attempted to light the spider on fire, surrounding brush ignited and the fire spread very rapidly.

Deputies found drugs and paraphernalia in his belongings after he was arrested.

Utah Wildfire Info (operated by the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands) named it the "Springville Fire" and estimated it at 60 acres as of Tuesday morning.

There is no official word on structures being threatened or evacuation orders at this time.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze from the ground and the air on Monday. Now, two crews, one engine and one fire squad is helping to contain the flames.

Much more stupid than weird.

With drugs on him I'm thinking gotta be a deadhead, I mean which one of us hasn't lit the woods on fire at one time or another, right ?  Couple times for me.

But the burning of the spider, well that's gotta be a phishhead right there.

My money is on METH, given "everything"

Burning Spider- isn't that the big gathering in Northern Nevada ?

Dude should have used a magnifying glass, not a lighter. Duh.

I have a friend who's arachnophobic, and any time she see's a spider she screams, "BURN IT!!! BURN IT WITH FIRE!!!!!"

But she would never get close enough to use a lighter.

As for what type of music fan this doofus might be, I'd say he's a juggalo, or a Kid Rock fan.

Reckless Burning?  Guilty.

Different definition, maybe.

I stand corrected on 'Utah Man':

"Deputies found a jar of marijuana in his belongings, but he didn’t appear to be high, said Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon."
