Melissa McCarthy on SNL

SNL was great this week, and this was one of the major highlights.

The opener was pretty good too.

I sure hope Samantha Bee has Melissa McCarthy booked to perform at the alt correspondence dinner.

SNL was nothing short of genius, and looking forward to an encore!

SNL is weird, the political skits are funny as can be but the other skits still suck so much. Maybe the political skits just write themselves.

I only wish we'd see more of Tina Fey, but alas The Donald has yet to give Sarah Palin a starring role in the new regime.

I take that back, the Dunkin Donuts Donny skit a few weeks ago had me in stitches.

I always find the commercials funny.

Shit was hilarious. Ive watched the McCarthy skit like 4 times already.

It's going to be hard for the WH press room to keep a straight face when Spicey walks out there tomorrow.

That was rarely brilliant.

Clearly mocking parody but still spot-on and realistic enough on multiple levels to be damn funny.

DAMN funny, well-written, and brilliantly performed.

Old-school SNL.

(All black clouds have a silver lining - in this case bombastic [horrible?] leadership leads to hysterical & topical comedy. I bet Lorne Michaels voted for Trump).

I say always look to the bright side of life!

>>>>he political skits are funny as can be but the other skits still suck so much

True, they should just go off the cliff already and go 100% politics

RIP David S Pumpkins

Holy skit, batman.....

So funny

Gonna record this one on the DVR...thanks for the heads-up.

Glad to hear these guys are doing ok these days.  Haven't been paying any attention to 'em for a bit cept for the opening Cohen cover and monologue after election night.

I'm disappointed that Trump or Spicer didn't reference SNL today.

edit:

apparently Spicer thinks it was "cute"

http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/sean-spicer-reacts-snl-meli...

Cute?

that is funny!

The skit was hilarious and scathing.

>>..In a interview Monday on Fox News, Spicer described McCarthy's spoof of him as "cute."

"I'd rather us be talking about the issues that the president is so committed to helping Americans on," he said "But you know, it's a part of American culture."

Spicer's remarks are the latest salvo in the Trump administration's public dialogue with America's longest running satirical television franchise.

Although President Donald Trump has appeared on the show in the past, and hosted it in November 2015, he's repeatedly lashed out at the program and the unflattering portrayal of him by actor Alec Baldwin, since this new season began.

On Twitter, Trump has called the show "unwatchable," "the worst of NBC," "not funny," and "really bad television." However, he has not explained why he continues to watch the program he claims to despise.

When pressed on this point by NBC's Matt Lauer in early December of 2016, Trump implied that the show — now in its 42nd season, would likely be canceled soon.

"The way the show is going now and you look at the kind of work they're doing, who knows how long that show is going to be on," he said. "It's a terrible show."...

>>However, he has not explained why he continues to watch the program he claims to despise.

Probably the same reason people open political threads here and then whine and complain.

That was hilarious !!  Thanks for posting it :)

Radical moose-lambs!

That skit an the opening were great.

"I'm writing a book about my struggle called "My Struggle" What's that in German?"

That was funny!

((((Moose Lambs))))

Brilliant.   "all the men had erections and all the women were ovulating left and right"

Amazing in this alternate reality that a comedy show could have such an impact.

The story:

The "Saturday Night Live" spoof of White House press secretary Sean Spicer hit a nerve with the White House spokesman and President Trump, according to a new report.

"Trump doesn't like his people to look weak," a top Trump donor told Politico two days after Melissa McCarthy portrayed an aggressive Spicer firing insults at journalists, chowing down on gum and busting out a super soaker during a press breifing.

But President Trump was most bothered by the fact that Spicer was portrayed by a woman, according to the Politico report.

Spicer tried to laugh off the spoof, even offering some advice for McCarthy's impression on Sunday.

He told Extra that he thought the show was "funny" but felt McCarthy "could dial back" - specifically that she "needs to slow down on the gum chewing; way too many pieces in there."

When asked again about his reaction to the SNL skit by Politico, Spicer said, "It doesn't really matter what I think."

Spicer has tried to build a relationship with reporters after a contentious first few days behind the podium that were mired in details after he denounced reports about Trump's inauguration attendance.

According to Politico, sources said Spicer will likely try to move past the SNL tension with humor at the next press briefing.

********

If this is the case, I can see SNL now portraying Donald with a woman actor, at least once, just to piss him off.

Spicer handled it well.  He didn't offer up the buffoonish response that was expected.  As we all know here the answer to trolling comedy is to roll with the joke.  No worries, next week they'll go after Trump and he'll be happy to make himself look like the asshat that he is.

The whole episode was a surgical attack on the President and that Spicer  bit was pure genius...execution and concept.

I love that it was the fact that it was a woman that got to him. As much as I love Baldwin's  Trump, they should make Rosie O'Donnell the new President and really get under his skin.  We could watch him stroke out on Twitter.

She'd make a good Bannon.

Holy shit, you're right.

That's fucking hilarious.

It's tough to walk that character back from the Grim Reaper but they should totally give her a bad wig, jaundice coloring and Gin blossoms and set her loose.

Then, in his mind, he's dealing with "Rosie" every day telling him what to do, setting up Bannon's ultimate departure.

hahaha.

they are already on it.

Bravo, Jonas.

>Then, in his mind, he's dealing with "Rosie" every day telling him what to do, setting up Bannon's ultimate departure.

Yep.  Every time Trump has a thought it cuts to a Bannon thought bubble chastising him.  Start light hearted and progress to Bannon morphing from Palpatine to the Emporer.

This photo was on Huff Po early this morning.

Good god

One of the best SNL seasons ever!

Absolutely hilarious.

IMHO - Good stuff again. Not as good as last week's Spicer skit, but I think the total surprise had something to do with that. The material was a tad better, too.

Once you hit a ninth inning game-winning grand slam over the roof and out of the park, a home run in the left field bleachers is nice but not as momentous.

I thought the Sessions things was OK (a little hard to understand Kate's accent but the look was funny). The Fatal Attraction skit was great.

Nice to see SNL so relevant again.

Trump must be too busy tweeting about Nordstrom to go off on SNL again.

I would so love to see OBAMA guest host the show, when he's back from his well deserved vacation.

Alec Baldwin's “The People’s Court” spoof was also very funny.

Trump introduced Russian President Vladimir Putin as a character witness and when the trial soured, he asked to settle out of court.

Even the judge presiding over Trump’s case failed to see the validity of the administration’s travel ban defense and had the suit tossed.

“I want one day without a CNN alert that scares the hell out of me,” said Cecily Strong, as Judge Marilyn Milian from "The People's Court."
