When I said it appears to be yes, I was being a wee bit sarcastic with the "appears".
I might give equal credit to my extraordinary parents and LSD with a few mushrooms thrown in) for helping me become the person I am. (By the way Local, I spent a lot of time coming on in old west Marin cemeteries and then spending days at Limantour and beaches around there).
Perhaps the most important thing I could say I learned is "In the end, everything comes to nothing". So fucking true. That alone can cure a lot.
Missed the show,, cure what ? Any of the psychosis that invade the head ? Which ones ? Lsd ain't fer everybody. I've seen the acid and the damage done,,, govt' experiments as well as friends.
Yes, better than any psych meds or bullshit talk therapy, fucking ever. Nothing else remotely comes close. Goes straight to the core, splits open and heals hearts.
I wake up every morning with tears of joy. My blackness has been confronted fully and seen for what it was: just distant memories of my path that had to be walked "as is". Nothing more or less, it simply had to be.
For me, this combination removed the pain of emotional attachment, so that i could see the decades of pain as every bit as vital as the good times to in order to reach this very point in time. All Is One.
My anxiety and depression have lifted to the point of no visibility. I feel 20 years younger and have shed hundreds of pounds of dead weight. I couldn't be more Thankful or filled with Gratitude right now.♥️
Cupertino, your list doesn't go very deep, and repetition doesn't give it depth.
That said, one of the docs said at the start of program that people with a family history of mental disorders, like psychosis and schizophrenia, should not take psychedelics.
Syd Barret also chewed Ludes and whatever else was placed in front of him like they were coming out of a pez dispenser, but im sure that had nothing to do with his slide downhill.
I did have the distinct pleasure of speaking with 77 year old tribal elder this past weekend about his LSD experiences before it was made illegal.
He imparted this wisdom upon me, " Joe, make sure when you ingest LSD, that you always take enough to go straight to the white light, because if you're not dwelling in the spirit realm, then what is the point of taking any?"
^yea, I am not really getting the whole idea of microdosing - and have/had generally veered in the other direction - but I am glad that it seems to be helping some folks. Indeed, be careful out there!
I say go for it!!! That same elder has peyote smoothies weekly and ingests psilocybin mushtrooms starting at 7g, but usually doses up to 14g at the age of 77. It's all about conditioning and caring for your body and mind.
So, the questions the episode asked is, Can Psychedilics Cure? As Mike said, in the beginning of the show they suggested conditions/instances in which it seems contraindicated. I think it may be a lot like penicillin; it can cure, and in some cases a person can't tolerate it. People get sick or die from reactions to penicillin. For the vast majority of people it can cure.
Pride of Cupertino, you let us know of some people whose death is attributed to LSD. It may be more complicated than that, but regardless, I'm sorry for their families, friends and fans.
Yet LSD is not the only psychedelic being used to help folks. Psilocybin is being used successfully to treat (cure?) depression and PTSD, among other things. We have a lot of knowledge, but the clinical trials are continuing.
Travel wisely is good advice. Trust the ones you're with.
As you'll see in the NOVA episode, they're also using MDMA which I might be remembering helps people bond during therapy, feeling safe to explore, and they mentioned another substance that I'm not remembering right now. The results of the investigations into various addictions and diseases are pretty amazing.
I'm always kind of surprised to see MDMA classified as a psychedelic. It's an amphetamine with some psychedelic effects, but it's structurally very different from most psychedelics.
That just reminded me, do you remember acid with speed in it? I once intentionally got a cap of speed with acid in it for a long drive. It worked out really well.
judit, I remember hearing about acid cut with speed (and strychnine, and other stuff), but I always thought that was just a myth. How much speed can you squeeze into a square of blotter?
What I learned from the Bufo ceremonies is that this powerful psychedelic is ONLY best used in a highly supportive and safety conscious environment. Anyone doing heroic doses of Bufo (30mg or higher, we started at 75mg) the first time by themselves could easily die from vomit aspiration or simply go off the walls from the impact of the experience. It would not be pretty. This was a very Family oriented experience with tremendous support from very experienced fellow travelers who served the medicine. Looking back, it would've been nice when i was 14 and tripping for the first time to have some support. Oh well. Escapism was fun for a while.
Very first time I tried to trip - nothing. Bunk dose.
Every other time - about a hundred - it was as advertised. As far as I could tell, no unwanted additions. Heard about the speed or strychnine thing but never experienced or confirmed it.
One distinction I was served last week is that spiritual seekers go to very high levels regularly, but they do it with a very specific intent. And they understand that set and setting are crucial.

I read at least one article in the '80's that pretty much spelled out this whole idea, but of course they couldn't talk about it in the
"mainstream", because oh my god, LSD and mushrooms!
People in this field have known for so long that this is effective; it's about time it's being more widely talked about.
