New Album Coming From The Third Mind

Forums:

Sounds like they've finished with recording. Very excited for this. Hopefully they'll do some shows.

from Victor Krummenacher's fb page:

"Oh lord, they’re at it again… The Third Mind, winter solstice 2022. Will Golden, myself, Jesse Solomon Sykes, Dave Alvin, Willie Aron, Michael Jerome Moore, David Immergluck. Immensely grateful for the opportunity to work with these folks again.

There were times since we released the first album by this project in 2020 where I wondered if we’d ever pull this magic off again. But we did, and it’s beautiful stuff. Here’s to the love, grace, strength and fortitude shown by all the people who helped make this happen. We are thankful. To paraphrase Churchill… never, never, ever give up."

Truly awesome news!  The first album was amazing.  Three versions of East-West. My goto for energy through music. TURN THAT SHIT UP!!!!!!

Also one of only 3 or 4 Cds that get any play from me at all these days.

I had tix for the Third Mind tour but it was canceled due to covid. I hope they do another tour to support this one.

I hope Dave is up for it.  A musician who's friends with him told me that his health is precarious.

If they do shows they will likely be limited, and most likely on the west coast, as Dave is still dealing with the aftermath of a serious cancer battle.

But if that man is game, so am I.

Fuck yeah!  That was the show COVID killed that I was most excited for.  And out of all the tickets I had for shows that were canceled that was the only one not rescheduled.

((((DAVE ALVIN))))

I agree the cancellation of that tour was one of the biggest musical losses of the pandemic.

Michael Jerome is one of the most underrated drummers in the biz.

I wonder if the next album will b as cover-centric as the first

Planning on at least one of these shows but would rather see Third Mind.

From his FB page last night.

I was beyond fortunate to be able to spend most of this week (avoiding malls and holiday traffic) with these immensely talented musicians and friends also known as The Third Mind. After 3 frustrating years, The Third Mind improvisation collective finally returned to the recording studio to continue our experiments in spontaneous music making. L-R: engineer Will Golden, bassist Victor Krumenacher, vocalist/acoustic guitarist Jesse Sykes, guitar basher DA, keyboardist Willie Aron, drummer/percussionist Michael Jerome Moore and hot rodding guitarist David Immergluck (photo by engineer/co-conspirator Craig Parker Adams). I can't explain how good it felt and how much it meant to me to be back working in a studio, laughing with dear friends and creating some joyous, blessed cacophony. I don't know when this music will be released but it should be sooner than anyone expected. If you enjoyed the first album by The Third Mind (and maybe even if you didn't), there's a lot happening on this for you to sink your sonic teeth into. I'm not doing too badly for an old rockabilly blues Downey boy.

From a FB post by Victor:

"Also, I’ll be sitting in with Charlie Parr at Polaris Hall in Portland tonight, as well as finishing a Third Mind Album in LA next week and hitting the road with Eyelids to support their new album Colossal Waste of Light immediately after that."

so that's happening.

also, catch Eyelids if they play near you.

saw dave the other night in san juan. He is looking and sounding like his normal ASS-KICKING self. whole band was smoke. all the guilty members are top-notch.

as for the third mind, I hope they tour. Dave defers quite a bit and always nice to see him take charge. Such a muscular player and just exudes coolness and style.

they did an 11 hr trip in the rain from petaluma to sjc. played 2 hrs, solid 4 song encore. I can't remember what they did but had a couple moments of  >> got to love one another >> 4th of july>?  nothing but respect to musicans in their 60's+ touring in a fucking van. that's rock n' roll.

Glad to hear Dave is doing better.  Thanks for the report.

Just got turned on to Charlie Paar this week.  Incredible talent there.
