Upcoming outdoor shows in the Southwest?

Forums:

Due to health issues, I haven't seen an indoor show since the Before Times.  Also just had back surgery, so I won't be snowbarding in the forseable future ... so would like to spend some time in warmer weather and maybe link together some outdoor shows if they exist.

String Cheese Incident at Gem & Jam Festival in Tucson during the first week of Feb is on the radar for me, but looking for what else might be happening in AZ, NM, NV, and So-Cal; although might consider anywhere in California or even PNW ... especially as time moves on closer to Spring.

I know about Skull & Roses, but is priced too high for what it is IMO.

Anybody know of any other outdoor music events (big or small)?

BMFS at the St. Augustine Amphitheater April 20-22.

Not SW or California, but will be plenty warm in Florida in late April.

^ Yeah, saw that.   Camped at Anastasia State Park almost a year ago to date on my way to see my dad in southern Florida.  Great spot for sure - even without a show.  Are you going?

Yep.  All three nights.  Camping at the state park for the shows recently went on sale, but suspect they might be sold out of campsites by now.  We will staying at my folks' house which is just a 20 minute walk from the venue.

That's awesome!  Just checked for laughs and camping appears to be sold out.

04/19 Greek Theatre, Berkeley, CA
04/21 Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA
04/22 Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA
04/23 Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA

I've never attended a show at either venue, so not sure how conducive either are to hang out on the "periphery" away from the crowd yet still hear the music?

I have never been to Berkeley's Greek but, yea, plenty of room and good sound at LA's Hollywood Bowl. These tix will likely sell out/evaporate but there should still be some room at the back/top to stretch out a bit.

FOM, do you have the Jam Base app? You can search for upcoming shows,by cities and a range of miles from the city, and you can search for festivals too.

hollywood bowl can have poor sound...guess it depends on the show/artist....

There is a lawn at the top of the Greek in Berkeley at the very top of that lawn is a good place to hang, but there is only a small area with flat ground before it starts going steeply down where you can both see and hear the band and you can also see across the SF Bay from there.  People will be on the steeply down part but I would not recommend being there. The dead used to put metal bleachers up at the top but I don't remember seeing another band do that which is too bad. There is a large flat area up there with porta potties and concessions then there is a chain link fence and a Cal dorm where you can see people studying while a concert is going on.

All that said I can't think of another place with better sound than inside the bowl of the Greek. I love that place because the bowl is so step you get the intensity of an indoor concert crowd while being outside.

The Jam Base app shows 25 festivals within 200 miles of Phoenix, and 23 within 200-miles of Denver, between now and October
