Cape Sebastian here I come

Surf's up!

I want to see this and I'm not working this week!

Please tell me where to show up for west coast zoner surf jam, winter edition.

Think you got my email, Noodler.

I think your email is on my old computer, don't have it on this one (Judit help!).  Currently planning on driving down weds afternoon, our rental (top of a duplex) is just past the Dairy Queen on Cape Arago HW, just got the detail info (can email that).  Plans are to spend as much time as possible on Thursday walking between the 2 main viewing areas at Shore Acres State Park.  With southwesterly swells, i'm guessing we'll spend most of the time at the northern 3 spots (of the 2 spots, north and south).

Bigger picture of the area (Sunset Bay = Spectacular, but so is Cape Arago, Simpson Reef and the orkers, Cape Arago Lighthouse)

Probably not a good time for a subduction zone quake.

Enjoy the waves.

Good morn Noodler

Email sent w/ a couple of questions...

Emails sent...   my mail server seems to be acting up this morning, but looks like the important one went thru (and you're welcome to drive down with us from Corvallis if you'd like)

Noodler, reply sent!

It's a beauty

at 10am, buoy 46002 had a pressure of 28.78, and still falling !  (275nm west of Coos Bay, where we're going)

love that image... my fav symbol, the spiral, means spiritual growth in Celtic culture

Strong winds in Portland now

it's strengthened quite a bit overnight, now currently pushing rain / wind bands onto the coast.  It's also pretty far south for cyclogenesis like this, so that's very unusual!

Should be a stormy drive down, then things should lighten up tonight as the low heads north.  Hoping for many sunbreaks between squalls tomorrow for some monster wave action...  30' should be nuts down there!

I love monster waves!

be careful kids. rogue waves are no joke in those woods. be mindful of the tides....high in the mornings right now.

Exactly what we're going for!!!   But we're not on a beach, but on a bluff ~60' above the ocean (but it can still knock you down!).  Been going down for almost 10 years now, it's a very safe place to watch the Huge waves from.  One of the best on the planet!  But you can hike to dangerous spots too (not us!).  Hoping for 35' waves, should be nutsoid down there!

That's a killer spot from which to see that awesome force of nature! Thanks!! Please keep the pics coming at your convenience.

A friend of mine just called from around klamath, stuck on 101 with downed trees in both directions

be safe out there

^^^ Thanks for the updates, keep them coming!

Leaving Portland soon...

I'll Be Checking Out The Ventura County Coast All The Way Up To Santa Barbara - All Day Long Tomorrow ! Can't Wait !

Wow!  That reads like a lot of fun....

....except that winds help trees fall....our neighbor had three huge firs fall on their house, and in my back yard I see signs of ..what's the technical forestry term for it....root exposure?  erumpent?  land disturbance?  The two I am most concerned about would land in the center of the house, by the chimney.

shoot.  It'd be fun to run away.  Wonder if I should re-locate....the neighbors are going to cut all their trees, (after their roof is replaced).  Not sure we want to do that....but dang.  The winds we had last week were predicted to be 35 mph, but went up to 60. Scary.  Lost power three days, which was no big deal, but losing a house....bummer.

Have a safe and exciting trip!!  Bring more than one hat, and tie it onto the cranium!
