Listened to the slipknot - incredibly slow

Interesting Jam before other one that was a pleasant surprise.

But I'm definitely out for this summer, any vague interest I had has been lost with how bored I think I'd be at these shows.

Tried listening to a Dead and Co show while working out yesterday. My usual 45 minute workout took and hour and 20.

Well consider switching to Jane Fonda music like Bobby did in MX....

DEAD & Company Riviera Maya

"not built for speed but for comfort"...

That setlist tells a story.  It may be plagiarized and ploddingly slow, but it's a story, dammit.

John Mayer’s halftime video interview also tells a story: he’s done and ready to move on. Yes he likes the new Wolf replica, but man is he heading out the door. DeadCo is ending because he’s moving on, and he’s the guy who really made it all possible on this larger scale of logistics. DeadCo would never have happened at this scale without Mayer, and he’s turning the page.

Looking at that Mayer PITS interview again, it really is pretty striking just HOW definitive he is that this will be the end of it. He says it so concretely, many times.

how did you break your hip at The D&C show?    Dancing your ass off?

No I fell over from boredom

Stay safe kids

The (somewhat) shocking thing about that Mayer half-time interview is that after all of this time of him hanging around that scene, inside and outside the shows, none of that decency has rubbed off on him. Nope. Same ole d-bag self-centered a-hole.

...and that it may be possible/likely that he never explored Pink Floyd, even from a guitar-player perspective? Wow.

I won't even get into his thoughts on the Jerry-worn frets of the original Wolf. Loser.

Wow, that Help on the Way is slooooooooow....

sooooooooooo slow

There are some gems in this one.   And by this one I mean this thread.

Listened to all 3 at work today and I noticed my secretary has fallen into a coma.

>>>DeadCo would never have happened at this scale without Mayer, and he’s turning the page.

Mayer bought the Grateful Dead like he would a fine wristwatch or a Tibetan robe.

He's a hipster collector, and they are walking antiques.

Time for a new hobby.

they should team up with dave mathews band next!

But to try taking Mayer’s side of this, he’s probably long tired of feeling shackled into playing everything so fucking slow the way Weir wants it. So many times I see Mayer up there trying his best to play with energy when the tempos are mostly dragging. He doesn’t have to deal with that in his own band. So he’s probably like, “Okay guys, this has been great, but we’ve been using my crew and production team and I just want to go back to my own thing.” No shame in that, really. He gave these guys a HUGE boost in their retirement paychecks. I’m guessing that Jeff and Oteil were just paid like hired guns, although paid pretty well I’d assume, but Bob and Billy and Mickey have John to thank for a massive retirement paycheck.

I am not so sure if it's the tempos but maybe more so that he has to share the bounty, spotlight, and credited material. Maybe he's gotten bored playing other people's music and ultimately, as ever, may think he deserves or is entitled to more, more, more. He may have a long career ahead of him and it most recently sounds like he doesn't want to be/get pigeon-holed into being known as this particular frontman. I don't really care what becomes of him but will be happy to see him hopefully exit this scene after this last tour which can't come soon enough, really. He must be a real gem when you consider that NONE of his many ex-GF's have anything nice to say about him....except Katy Perry who liked him in bed.

By direct contrast, the interview with Oteil the first day feels much nicer. He comes across as the sweetest person, no ego.
