Most would likely agree with putting The Q at the top, but he has had so many great small runs with such varied incarnations. That this has all happened post liver transplant and relatively late in life is quite a tale. I see another thread praising the Dec. 17th, 18th, 19th, 2004 run at the Warfield. Who exactly was in that lineup?
I thought the stuff he did with Anders Osborne was pretty damn good. Seems like that very early run of April 15th, 16th, 17th, 1999 with Kimock, Anastasio, Molo, and McConnell was legendary. I loved the 5 night stand he did at Red Rocks (The Dead July 6,7.8,10, 11). That run started out a little slow from what I can tell, but by the time the got to Red Rocks they were fantastic imo.

particle guy era gets high
particle guy era gets high marks
ryan adams might not be everyones cup of tea, but many of the shows with him were pretty top notch, especially the early ones, and that era is certainly one of the most frequently discussed among phil fans
phils 70th BGCC is an all timer
i struggle to include TXR lineups in a list of best PLF groups, but most of the stanley jordan shows were extremely good
another one i struggle to include but will mention anyway is the philrad NYE run, which deserves a mention simply because jrad is one of the best post-GD groups to play a show of GD songs. maybe not as good as the top PLF lineups but damn close.
IMO a full on tour in the pre-TXR years featuring the david nelson band minus pete plus phil playing PLF shows could have been an all time great tour, very possibly up there with the Q
overall i feel like kimock era and the Q are by far the best

lineup-wise there were some
lineup-wise there were some real cool ones at TXR but IMO, after furthur was formed and then dissolved, no PLF lineups played enough shows together to really gel in the way thats needed to put them in a list next to the Q and other early lineups that did full tours. there were some amazing one off moments, like phils 70th, the first TXR telstar, or the first TXR stanley jordan run, but doing those full tours was an essential piece of the puzzle IMO. thats a big part of why looking back on things, most of my favorite shows from that era are furthur shows, even tho objectively many of the TXR shows i saw featured better, more adventerous muscians that on paper i should prefer.

Shadow of the Moon tour in
Shadow of the Moon tour in 2005 discussed in the other thread was really great. People still talk about that Althea with Scofield, although the Larry/Barry shows were more consistent.
For post-Furthur, the April 2014 Cap run with Larry/Teresa, JK, Chimenti and Russo was very strong.

Truth.
In the room most of them will sound fair to good. My last time here in Mobile was two nights, basically TXR band with Krasno and King, very high just from the guitar firepower alone.

Went to Vegoose Oct. 29th, 30th, 2005. Saw the show at the stadium and it was great. If I remember Warren sat in for a few songs and it was really the ending of the Q. I tried like hell to get tickets for that Hard Rock show, but couldn't find any. Smaller venue with huge amounts of unticketed folks wanting in. That show was three full sets if I remember. Can' remember if Warren played that or just Jimmy Herring, but reviews were stellar. End of an era. I think Jimmy played for a little more after that, but Warren was gone..

Thanks so much for the link
Thanks so much for the link to the Vegoose stadium show from 2005. Really the end of an era with The Q fading away, although they never went extinct, lucky for us. I also loved Joan with Phil. Her presence from the 2003 to around 2005 was great in imo.

It's impossible to rate so
It's impossible to rate so many different groups over so many years, but one that comes to mind right away is the two show run at the Warfield in July of '99 with David Nelson, Barry Sless, Mookie, Kimock & Bill Kreutzmann.
It took no time for that very like-minded group to jell and the music was warm & melty right from the start, but for me it was seeing Billy K playing with Phil again, and being reminded of how naturally & brilliantly those two wrapped around each other that really made those shows memorable. Opening the first night with Cryptical/Other One didn't hurt.

I also think there should be a nod to the "Ham & Eggers", with Jackie Greene, Larry Campbell & Particle Dude. For me it took that band a long time to come together and they took a LOT of grief on the old zone, but by the end of their time I thought they had really found their sound and played some really good shows, with "the closing of the Warfield" album shows standing out as really excellent, memorable events.
To me, that group is a perfect example of how musicians need to play together over time to develop familiarity/musical intimacy. Without that, especially when playing Grateful Dead music/group improvisation, the players will be hesitant, the music will feel heavy & stiff and the jams will muddle around and go nowhere interesting, no matter how impressive the names are.

This was back in the days of free festival webcasts that just ran all day. It was a really cool thing to be able to turn it on at noon and just pop back in periodically to see who was playing and watch a few songs. And then like everything else capitalism eventually took hold
