A Picture For Our Times

any shot of climate disaster would do, really

As much as I like the generation of power using sun and wind, will valuable land be lost from food production?

Will "they" find balance?

Judit ,my thoughts on your concern:

The future will be greenhouses made of transparent solar panels! The panels will power machines that extract water from the air. I don't know why but this thought is accompanied by the laverne and Shirley theme song in my head.
"We're gonna make our dreams come true"

Your thoughts are somewhat encouraging. Thanks.

Some of the best land for solar and wind farms is not particularly suited for agriculture.   In addition, there is some new developments in solar technology involving raised panels that leave room underneath for other uses.

Here is the Department of Energy's webpage on solar/agriculture colocation:

We fucked it up for them!!!!

The more solar energy that goes to electricity generation, the less there is for the plants under them, and vice-versa.

Unless we could develop tuned solar panels that only use wavelengths the plants don't use - in the green range - and  transmit the rest to the plants underneath them.
