Thanks for the password, fabes. West coast shows and Las Vegas go on sale today at 10 AM PST.

Got our usual seats for all three nights of the St. Augustine run!

Does anyone know: Is this the same week as the notorious Spring Break weeks in Florida?

Spring break is usually in late March.   Bike Week is in early March.

Ken if I can line up someone new in Jacksonville to train again I will see you there, but Tampa is probably it for me this round. I got first row 2nd tier right at half court. This may be one of the smaller indoor  venues on the tour

spring break is a month long event in Florida, with new players being shipped in every week. Oh to be young again.

and what about pricing $59-$69, thank you Billy

Thanks Fabes... just dreamin for now... beach vacation sounds nice given the grey skies in Portland today.

I'm in for the LA Greek at a nice price. $78 a piece and that includes the ticketbastard fees.

In for LA and San Diego!

^^^ woo hoo you two!

botb made me by tix.

got 2 for sd sat. that was nuts. the hype is crazy.

i'm not full aboard the bus...yet...

>>>>was nuts. the hype is crazy.

Georgia Theater in Athens (capacity 1000) and the Ryman (capacity 2,362) are going to be the hard to get tix of the tour.

We were up before the dawn with two laptops set to go for the St. Augustine run.   Hopefully you can end up making it Fabes.   Maybe will get a Tim sighting too.

Love that Billy has direct links to Cash or Trade on his official website for the sold out shows.

I hit the lottery for Athens.  Stub hub $1299.00  lol   I would sell mine for that.

If you had bad luck try again today, more seats are up for the Tampa show this morning that were not available yesterday

No Strings in St Aug. Ill be in the Gulf fishing the 20-24th

Got 2 for Tampa on the 18th

Still looking for a pair for Saturday for my eldest son's birthday show.

All fuzzy rainbows and shit smiley

Stoked for next week.  Wilco is playing the St. Augustine Amphitheater on Wednesday the night before Billy kicks off his three night run.  Got tickets for that too.  So with the two Phish shows this weekend, will be a six shows over nine days.

have fun

Ready for Tampa! Might be hitting up Columbia in Ybor City before the show depending on our drive time. Was hoping the new Yuengling Brewery would be open, but will save that for another day.

Two nights here and I didn't go.

I am going to catch hell from a few of my friends when I see them.

If they're good friends, you should catch some hell, aiq. Billy's having himself a nice extended moment, and is not to be missed if he's in the area. I'll be at the LA show in about a month.

I have not been to a concert in several years and do not see that changing.

I played in a bluegrass band from 88-93, we did festivals across the southeast each season.

Enjoyed it, got the t shirt, and got over it.  See, the guitar player has to capo the different keys to get the bluegrass chime.  Like playing in the key of G for five years.

I like Bb better.

Glad people are enjoying it.

> I like Bb better.

I can't really say why, but that put a smile on my face.

Can't make it

I can transfer tickets if someone wants them

Sorry you can't make it fabes :-(

No issues, 2 plus hour drive, late start, fucked up traffic, and just decide to have a nice dinner and do a u-turn instead of getting there late. Thanks China

I guess I got old before I died

Still got three nights up in St. Augustine if you change your mind Fabes.

Was just checking out Cash or Trade and people are selling tix.  Just put in offers for more tickets for Friday and Saturday for the local peeps.

He played Sitting In Limbo last night in Tampa.  Looking forward to the next three nights!

Wilco warmed up the stage last night in St. Augustine with a little help from local guitar hero Derek Trucks:

Derek Trucks with Wilco I.jpg

Billy kicked off the three night St. Augustine run with a bunch of songs about weed:

Nels Cline and Derek Trucks together on stage?  Get out!

I wonder if Billy is going to follow the path the Earl Scruggs Revue blazed with Jamgrass in the early 70s and add a drummer to his line-up.  Earl pisseda off many purists doing that, but Billy has shown he doesn't really adhere to any conventional conception of Bluegrass.  Ditching his banjo player and adding a second guitarist a la The Tony Rice Unit would also be an interesting move.

Billy don't need no drummer.  He was laying down the heavy metal last night with just the sound of five guys on string instruments.

What Ken said. The Hide and Seek closer last night rocked hard.

https://archive.org/details/billystrings2023-04-20.billystrings2023-04-2...

It's not a question of need, just of continuing to change things up.  His banjo player is the weak link in his band.

I have to disagree, Dave; there's really no weak link in this group. Billy Failing is an integral part of their sound, both as a backing and lead vocalist (they played his tune So Many Miles last night), and an instrumentalist.

So Many  Miles https://archive.org/details/billystrings2023-04-20.billystrings2023-04-2...

Different strokes, Mike.  I've been following Bluegrass since 1990.  The guy just doesn't do it for me.

Different strokes I can live with, but bluegrassier than thou? You're better than that, Dave. And besides, Billy has shown he doesn't really adhere to any conventional conception of Bluegrass.

Not trying to be all high and mighty, just saying I've seen and heard a lot of banjo players.

Billy def puts heavy metal into bluegrass.  Away from the Mire was great.

i have tix for sd. i get what JD says...

i'm on the fence. personally prefer some dynamics other than having it rammed down my throat every song.

i may sell them...if not, i'll let ya know how it was.

Yeah Billy has never claimed to be a bluegrass purist, quite the opposite actually. If you want pure cousin fuckin' bluegrass go do that instead of complaining over and over about something other folks are having fun with.

I'm partial to the free mixlr streams for technical reasons but I gotta say my nugs sub has paid for itself a few times over now with all the free sub streams. I was paying a lot for streams during the shutdown era. I wish nugs had Sierra Ferrell and better GD recordings, some are pretty 'blippy' for being from official recordings. Still, tough to beat it for $50 a year (I got the sub on special promo rate and they've given me the same rate every year since).

Anyhow looking forward to another FREE FOR SUBSCRIBERS stream tonight!

Kind of funny how many of the Billy Bliss Ninnies are such china dolls and can't handle a constructive critique.

At least I didn't get triggered and start name-calling because someone critiqued your critique. Sounds to me like Dise got your Billy goat, Dave.

anyone opening for Billy?

No opener

You hop on nearly every Billy thread and whinge about how you don't enjoy it. We get it. Music is subjective. That you're not impressed is fine, that you can't stop pooping on everyone else's good time is...kind of weird tbh.

Billy likes weed.  He puffed a phatty on stage last night in a place where it is still a no no.  Everybody be like Billy, smoke a phatty a chill.

Walking down to the venue shortly.

You damn sure won't see Pete Wernick or Tony Trischka doing any of that

Enjoy the gig ken

trade my billy for your willie!

Have fun, Ken. I'm hitting the livestream in a few. Maybe I'll see you!

Derrick and Nels from your show the other night

Damn, Derek and Nels play real nice together.

Critiquing a band is different than saying they suck.  There are parts of what the Billy Strings band brings that I really like.  I didn't say Billy Failing is incompetent, just that his contribution is inconsequential in the context of this band,  There are things, namely the EDM light show, I don't care for.  I'm not alone in this sentiment.   I've never been a Pollyanna when it comes to music, and I never will.  There  were plenty of things with the Grateful Dead that I had issue with too.  Trying to quash a dissenting opinion makes you all come off like little Hitlers.   I have always danced to the beat of my own drum and followed my own weird path, and will continue to do so whenever and wherever I please.

You have a really low threshold for making Hitler comparisons, Dave. What's up with that? Just part of your weird path?

It's a riff on an Elvis Costello line, and in this case, works as an analogy.

Anyhow, have fun with your circle-jerk, I've got bigger fish to fry today.

Going to check out tonight's stream later, off to a gem show then bonfire. Enjoy your Saturday, music fans :)

Wonder if more spiders will crawl out of the swamp again tonight and freak out the banjo player?

Saturday night was my first BS show and I didn't know a single song other than the second set Alice in Chains cover - holy crap this band is amazing!  So much much energy and the fans love him!  great town, great venue, awesome crowd and I am hooked.  Can't say enough good things about BS.  blown away

So happy you had a great first show, BD! That was pretty much my first show experience too. Smaller venue but same high energy crowd and music.
