So back in 1979 one of the English teachers at my high school bought a bunch of tickets to a Dead show for her students mostly the seniors, but some of those tickets drifted down to the freshman and that is how I ended up at my first dead show. There were probably 20 of us that went to that show and out of that group only myself and Mike started following them around. He is a photographer and through years started to send his prints from shows to the dead office hoping they would use some of them.
Then in 88 out of the blue he got a note from Blair saying he needed someone to take pictures of east coast shows. So a plan was made to take pictures at Oxford and then fly out for the Greek shows to meet Blair and hand off the pictures. I got to tag along and got to meet Blair as they were putting together an issue of The Golden Road which is that issue. The picture of Mickey also ended up in the Dead calendar that year.
I probably wouldn't have gone to the Greek shows that year if all that didn't happen and because of those shows I decided to move to SF which I managed to pull off in 91, but also because of that issue we heard that they had been rehearsing Dark Star before the 89 tour which is why I ended up at a certain show in Hampton.
Lotta good things came from that issue of The Golden Road.

Well, I don't remember how it
Well, I don't remember how it went or the exact situation - that's why I googled it.
The link to GR was first on the page and claimed to have something similar to what I was looking for, but I couldn't find it.
