Off the radar for some years now but many fun nights both playing at and watching bands play. There's also the Hell In A Bucket video as well. The place has been a real roller coaster of management and owners.

So when the Dead & Dylan were
So when the Dead & Dylan were rehearsing for their tour, Dylan happened to wonder into New Georges and saw a local band playing and he has claimed that gave him a musical rebirth and turned things around. If for nothing else, it should get a plaque for that and the start of the "never ending tour". Last time I was there was for Brian Melvin's Nightfood--to Weir sit it that time. Anyone remember the 4th Street Tavern. Another Marin legend!

You got the story right, but the location incorrect. Dylan wandered from the GD's Front Street rehearsal space to Pier 15 Bar & Grill on Harbor Street where he saw a jazz musician performing who left quite an impression.
Unfortunately Pier 15 closed permanently sometime after 2020. It was walking distance from TXR and a great place to grab food, drink, or in Dylan's case - inspiration.

Hell yeah. Around the KVHW era (1998, 1999) there was a semi regular, very casual Kimock scene there with some exceptional music being played on like, Sunday afternoons. It was like a long narrow clubhouse.
If you are looking for something new to listen to, there are some nice tapes of shows there. Here's two at random:

Saw Weir and Jaco play with Nightfood at New George's one evening. Was hoping for some interesting instrumentals but got 'Fever' and 'Twilight Time' instead.

I've loved the tape of that
I've loved the tape of that 12/24/99 MJB show for a long time, it's Kimock playing straight jazz and it's fantastic.

44 Smokeless--thanks for keeping me honest--the frontal cortex has taken a beating with live shows. Good ole Pier 15--yes, miss that. Swear Zimmy was at New Georges but I'll take your word on that one
