We'll kill you and future generations but a billion should make it right

"The companies Chemours, DuPont and Corteva announced on Friday they have agreed to pay more than $1 billion to settle claims that “forever chemicals” contaminated public US water systems.

The family of ubiquitous synthetic chemicals – per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS – linger in the environment and the human body, where they can cause serious health problems, and are found in everyday products including fast-food wrappers, makeup and carpeting.

In June, based on the latest science, the EPA issued health advisories that said the chemicals are much more hazardous to human health than scientists originally thought and are probably more dangerous even at levels thousands of times lower than previously believed....The water systems serve the “vast majority” of the US population, the release said."

Maybe....

"So far, the three companies reached an agreement in principle. A definitive agreement is expected to be finalized later this year in the US District Court for the District of South Carolina, the companies said."

What's a cool bil among friends? Peanuts. Throw the peasants some peanuts. just make sure you wash them down with something other than tap water.

In 2015, DuPont and the Dow Chemical Company agreed to a reorganization plan in which the two companies would merge and split into three. As a merged entity, DuPont simultaneously acquired Dow and renamed itself to DowDuPont on August 31, 2017, and after 18 months spun off the merged entity's material science divisions into a new corporate entity bearing Dow Chemical's name and agribusiness divisions into the newly-created Corteva; DowDuPont reverted its name to DuPont and kept the specialty products divisions. Prior to the spinoffs it was the world's largest chemical company in terms of sales. The merger has been reported to be worth an estimated $130 billion

This goes back to the Dark Waters film that Zang posted in What are you watching?  Exactly about this.  But the forever chemicals don't know about settlements, so they'll stay put.

Our desire for convenience (no stick? Fuck yeah! I don't like dishes) does not help one bit.  Cast iron and Vision pyrex glass cookware here.

Been cast iron, glass and stainless steel for a long time now.

Seems maybe 100 billion would be closer to adequate. Could create an agency(Not government) to help cleanup water systems throughout the country.  Probably still not close to enough. Let alone the rest of the world.  We really are leaving a shithole for Willie and Keith.
