50 years and 1 day ago I lost my Rock and Roll cherry

Forums:

Thanks to photographer Bob Gruen, I was reminded today of the first rock concert I ever saw and I think it explains a lot about my taste in music and why I always love a great stage show.

I was 14 and the first show I saw was Alice Cooper during the Billion Dollar Babies tour at Madison Square Garden. Mind being blown doesn't even come close to describing it. To this day I have no idea how my Uncle Robert convinced my parents that is was ok for me to go the show, but I'm glad he did.

When's the next show? lol

I'd have been more impressed if this thread had been 50 years exactly.

A day late, a dollar short.

We expect better Tony.

Sigh. Time to get back into therapy.

i'm over 40 in, and mine was van halen

Mine was September 26, 1980 seeing Rush with opening act FM on the Moving Pictures tour.

Holy shit, Tony. That was my second concert. It's been a while.

Dunno the exact day, but it was 59 years ago this summer that I saw the Beach Boys at the Surf Ballroom in Nantasket Beach MA - my first show. My dad had to drive me - I was 12. Guess I shoulda waited 'til next year to post this, for the big six oh.

Hate to admit it - but the first show I think I saw was in Speedway Meadow --"Alice Cooper" 1969-- God they were awful.

A few weeks later at the Polo Fields - Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane - Saw about 25 mins of each band.
