Have to wonder how many rightwinger heads would have been turned if Grace Slick had been successful dosing the punch bowl when she was at the White House for Tricia Nixon's tea party for Finch College alumnae?
"Love is the most important thing," he told the baffled research assistant. "Nothing matters without love." from a staunch white supremacist.
The "set". Not surprising that inner change (healing) can take place in a quiet, structured, comfortable setting in which the patient feels safe and the facilitator(s) felt to be completely trustworthy..
Yep to all this. Psychedelics can be huge step forward for human healthcare if it can become accepted by a critical mass of people. The propaganda propagating the dire risk of having a "bad trip" has been strong for generations and still continues. Almost every article or video I see on the subject still heavily leans on this idea and will say something like 'even through research is promising the risk of a bad psychotic experience isn't well understood for certain groups of people or people with certain preexisting conditions.'
I've been following the research on psilocybin treatments at Johns Hopkins University for over two decades now and the reality is that the amount of "bad trip" issues with patients is minuscule. Sure not everyone has a life altering experience that greatly benefits them, although a good portion due. But having a 'bad trip' which causes a psychotic break and a ruined life is not really a thing at all. Yet a good portions of the population still believes this is a real risk to psychedelic treatment. The following link can be copied and pasted to get the latest on Hopkins ongoing research.
