Hollywood Boys Choir, 1973.
From top left Kent McCord, Martin Milner, Charles Nelson Reilly, Ed Asner, Glenn Ford, Red Foxx, Jack Carter, Ernest Borgnine, John Wayne and Howard Cosell.
A few from the other night, Carlos sitting in with his wife's band playing the music of Tony Williams in SF. I didn't take any of these photos, but the photographer of the first two was right next to me, and the third is from a friend who was up in the gods.
I'm not a big fan of Cindy Blackman Santana as a drummer, but I love the '70s fusion music they were playing and her band, with Vernon Reid on guitar, John Medeski on keys & Felix Pastorious (Jaco's son) on bass were just cooking, and Carlos shredded the final half hour.
I hadn't seen Carlos in a very long time and because of his limited touring now I had mostly resigned myself that I may never see him again, so it was great to see him in a small venue playing fusion like he's been playing it all his life. Which I guess he has.
He still owns the guitar like an eagle owns the sky.
He doesn't reveal locations on social media (he goes to so many spots as is).
Having said that, one can go to the Sweet Home Ranger station, and get a permit ( I think for free ), to collect seeds from them (can't collect the plants), then go up to marsh part of Parish Lake nearby (think there's a trail off of NFD Road 2266, but after the fires, have no idea what's currently open / closed. But sundews are surprising common in any Cascade marsh!
Meanwhile, Snarky Puppy tonight in Eugene! (Hult Center)
Not that i know of, Mark, just good fresh frozen concentrate. This is the highest they had. The times that i do buy, i only ask for the high terp products.
A buddy of mine is backpacking in the Sierras south of Mt. Whitney this week. This is a shot he took at Muir Lake. You can gauge the depth of the snow by the trees on the right.
Muir Lake. The name sets off huge flag somewhere hidden in my memory. It was fairly significant but I'll be damned to remember why. Looking at satelite photos there is nothing around there and it seems too remote to have been on one of my hikes in my youth. I LOVE the high Sierras. Been away far too long and now........
Thanks Joe! I have some availabilty if you (or any other Zoner) may have a hankerin' for one (...shameless plug). Go DOSERS!! THE championship team every time.
Just drove the Moki Dugway (both directions) awesome engineering feat. Great dispersed camping at the overlook on Muley Pt rd (CR241) at northern end of Dugway off CR261 and Valley of the Gods (CR242) a mini Monument Valley. The scenery ~6miles in from the entrance off CR 163 (milepost29) is crazy good...
Bears Ears and Grand Mesa areas are exceptional and lighlty traveled compared to the surrounding Nat'l Parks
Interesting info about Deer Creek with D$C heading in there, but I'm absolutely certain that the people running that place now are not the same people who were running it 28 years ago. They probably weren't even born yet.
I'd say, if that level of security isn't the norm at that venue these days, then it is more a reaction to what happened at the Gorge a week or so back.
EDM show? Hippie band? To the authorities all either of them mean is DRUGS!!!!
But this good thread digresses, so here is one (I didn't take) from eight years ago today.....
