The LA LakeTrotters

Forums:

The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James with the 55th pick of the NBA draft Thursday, a major step in Lakers star LeBron James’s long-held dream of teaming up with his eldest son in the NBA

I just don't see this as a good move for anybody involved. There is just so much down side here.

sigh.

f'n pissed they passed on jaime last year.

nepo babies...

I don't follow this stuff that closely, but isn't LeBron a free agent?

And wasn't there a pretty decent chance that he would sign with whichever team drafted his kid? If so I'd say this is just an ancillary move to make sure he stays in LA.

In the end it's still about performance, so I'd expect the kid will get his shot but end up on the end of the bench or more likely on their D-league team, LeBron gets what he wants (which on it's own is actually pretty damn cool, a father and son playing together professionally, even if just for a little bit) and the team keeps it's marquee superstar and chief money-maker.

Except for any Lakers fans who wanted to see LeBron leave or if they passed on a brilliant talent at #55 (doubtful) just to make LeBron happy, this doesn't seem like a big whoop either way.

Except that whenever they're both on the team, even if it's just for some preseason games, the Lakers will be on prime time national TV even more than they already are and will be talked about endlessly on all the TV shows, which is money in the organization's pocket.

Let the games begin.

Complete JOKE ! how i hate the Lakers in todays Realm. nono

Lakers are now officially a clown show.

<<Remember that one time jr and sr went back to back?>>

i was just thinking the same.  I saw this happen live, just randomly watching ESPN at my girlfriends parents house with the special cable box that got everything free.

Somehow I read tater tots and clicked.

.

Showering with Dad after games? and on the road with all yer boys, and pops?

just for that reason, I would be like, pops, let me go my own way, we don't have to play together.

I am only opening tater tots threads that include onions, I am pro Tots

So the famed Lakers hire a coach who has never actually coached a single game, followed by drafting their aging superstar's son, who played one year in college, averaging 4.8 points a game.

This seems like somewhat of an offbeat strategy.

Bronny has some health issues too.

The Clown Show could be more interesting than the Lake Show.  Krusty Bobblehead Night, ICP street team literally throwing shit into the stands, and the Bozo Ball should all be wildly popular.

So the famed Lakers hire a coach who has never actually coached a single game>>>   Showed in his 1st press conference, asked a simple question about the pressure of this job, said fuck twice during his answer.

Lakers are now officially a clown show>>>   At least JJ already has his top assistant coach, starting forward Lebron James.   Former agent as a GM?  That's how you get the Westbrook disaster & trading to get back that spoiled child De Angelo Russell.

BTW, with or without Sonny Boy James, the team is still way behind the Thunder, Nuggets, T Wolves, Mavs, & about even with other dinosaurs: Clippers, Suns & Warriors, & younger teams getting better like the Pelicans, Kings & Rockets.  Just out West.  East has Knicks & Celtics with much better rosters.

I just don't understand who would want to put their son in that situation. Especially for a team that is most likely going to struggle next season and is a not so improbable injury away from tanking. No one is going to think he is there on merit and he will take shit he doesn't deserve when the team doesn't live up to the LA fan base expectation which is ring or bust.

I just don't think it's a big deal.  Late 2nd rounder, who cares.  Keeps Lebron which may be bad thing but I believe most people would take him.  He's not Klay

There will be a huge media presence at any game they are both on the bench and every second of playing time his son gets will be analyzed. First year coach will be under all kinds of pressure to put them on the floor together. Playing for the Lakers is always about dealing with the distractions but this just opened the flood gates. Also every player is going to be asked if they think he deserved the minutes. I mean it's good for the Kings so I'm here for it but damn.

Klay heading to Orlando

klay is my neighbor now, well, close.

i saw a graphic of lakers/boston picks..... we picked lonzo over tatum....and some other shmuck other than brown.

annoying.

Jeanie Buss married comedian Jay Mohr last year.

Maybe this is a long form comedy bit. If so, well played,

i used to think jeanie knew what she was doing...then they shined on jerry west...

this is a young buck's game...need more bucks.

not sure about jj....i mean he was a solid role player...probably pretty smart...i do like what he's said so far...

ps. team hasn't stayed healty since gary vitti left.
