Dr. Phil Encounter

Yesterday, around 7:00 p.m., I was taking a bunch of cardboard out to the recycling bins in the alley.  There was a line queued up for the show playing upstairs in the theater that I was walking around, when I heard a commotion behind me.  Next thing I know, Dr. Phil, in slacks and a sportcoat with his balding hair slicked back, comes trotting past me followed by a couple of photographers, as the crowd yelled out to him.  I half-remembered that he was playing the theater, but it was a little surreal seeing this guy go running by.

I stayed late wrapping up some projects, and as I was coming up the stairs to leave,  I wondered if the show was over.  Just then, the backstage door opened, and out comes Dr. Phil.  Instead of getting in the SUV rental parked on the sidewalk, he made a beeline up the sidewalk and past me to go to the hotel catycornered from our building.  This time he wasn't running and got close enough to me, that I couldn't miss the stank of the excessive amount of cologne he was sporting.  He completely disregarded the crosswalk signal, and jaywalked diagonally through the intersection to get to the hotel.  Maybe he gets stalked alot.  He sure seemed in a hurry to get out of the public eye both times I ran into him.

Not sure if I'd ever take advice from him, but it made for a surrealistic Sunday.
